Business Development Manager

 

Join a newly established Business Development team in Malaysia where you’ll pioneer commercial partnerships that expand access to life-changing diabetes and obesity treatments. In this role, you’ll identify and develop strategic alliances across telehealth platforms, pharmacy chains, and private healthcare providers—creating new pathways for patients to access the care they need.

 

Your new role

As Business Development Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how Novo Nordisk expands diabetes and obesity care across Malaysia. Working as a team, you’ll have the autonomy to identify opportunities, build partnerships, and create intervention points across the patient journey—from awareness through to adherence.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing business development strategies aligned with local commercial objectives and regional guidance for GLP-1 products
  • Identifying and screening potential partners including telehealth platforms, retail pharmacy chains, private hospital groups, and third-party administrators based on strategic fit and value creation potential
  • Assessing partnership feasibility by analyzing drivers of value for both Novo Nordisk and potential partners across financial and non-financial models
  • Planning partnership frameworks and overseeing execution by working closely with the Strategic Alliance Manager and Strategic Alliance Lead
  • Supporting pricing initiative analysis and execution across private channels to ensure alignment with commercial strategy
  • Creating intervention points to close gaps in the obesity and type 2 diabetes patient journey across awareness, consultation, prescription, delivery, and adherence
  • Ensuring compliance with pharmacovigilance requirements and internal legal standards

Business Development team  is a newly established team that  launched in September 2024, consisting of just three dedicated professionals. Led by a manager with over 25 years of Novo Nordisk experience, the team culture is built on empowerment, trust, and accountability. Your colleagues are hard-working and well-experienced, and you’ll have the freedom to drive initiatives forward as long as deadlines are met. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of building something from the ground up.

 

Your skills & qualifications

We’re looking for a strategic thinker who can identify opportunities and turn them into meaningful partnerships. To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • A relevant academic degree in a medical or business field (MBA is a plus)
  • At least 3 years of client facing experience in the field (within pharmaceutical or FMCG industry is preferred)
  • 2 years or more of experience as a Business Development / Product Manager/ Sales Manager preferred
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to navigate complex partnership landscapes and build relationships with diverse external partners
  •  Commercial acumen to assess partnership feasibility, analyze pricing initiatives, and identify drivers of value
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously while keeping your team and leadership informed
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken (in addition, local language will be an added advantage)
  • Patient and science orientation with a competitive focus on delivering results
