Enterprise IT & Quality – SAP & Ecosystems

Novo Nordisk Global Business Services (GBS)

Shape the data lifecycle strategy behind one of the world's most critical SAP landscapes – and ensure the information that supports life-saving medicines remains compliant, accessible, and future-ready.

Your new role

As our SAP Archiving and Data Volume Management specialist, you will own and evolve the strategy that governs how Novo Nordisk manages, archives, and retains data across our SAP S/4HANA environment. This is a role that blends strategic thinking with deep technical expertise – you will define the roadmap and roll up your sleeves to configure, govern, and continuously improve our archival operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and evolving the SAP Data Volume Management and archiving strategy aligned with the S/4HANA roadmap, data growth projections, compliance requirements, and business priorities
  • Providing hands-on SAP ILM expertise, including retention management, archive object configuration, ILM policy and rule enablement, archival job monitoring, and retrieval validation across SAP-ILM, Dell ECS, and OpenText
  • Owning lifecycle management and IT compliance of the SAP data archival system from implementation through operations, ensuring alignment with GxP requirements and Novo Nordisk standards
  • Driving risk management, governance, and system strategy in collaboration with cross-functional teams including architects, project teams, and Line of Business stakeholders
  • Managing vendor engagement and technical coordination with SAP, Aeven, OpenText, and relevant storage and platform vendors to resolve issues, assess roadmap impacts, and ensure service continuity
  • Representing the SAP Data Archival system and its compliance posture during audits, preparing documentation and evidence as required
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for SAP data archival needs across Line of Business and projects within the SAP ecosystem, translating business needs into actionable archival requirements

Your new department

In Enterprise IT & Quality, you will be part of a business area that drives impact across the full Novo Nordisk value chain. We strive to stay close to our stakeholders in the business to ensure we deliver on their needs, helping reach millions of people living with serious chronic diseases. Our focus is on being at the forefront within our three areas; ensuring the highest quality for patients, being a trusted tech leader and an environmentally responsible business.

You will join the SAP S4 Platform & Integrated Systems team, responsible for end-to-end S/4HANA platform management and day-to-day operation and maintenance, including GxP and SoX compliance governance. Our SAP environment underpins critical business and regulated processes spanning Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D – and your expertise will ensure this foundation remains scalable, compliant, and performant as we continue to grow.

Your skills & qualifications

We are looking for someone who combines strategic vision with deep technical hands-on capability, and who thrives in a complex stakeholder environment. You will bring:

  • Overall 10+ years of experience, including 6+ years in SAP archiving, SAP ILM, Data Volume Management, or closely related SAP lifecycle management roles
  • Hands-on experience with SAP ILM retention management, archive administration, archive object configuration, residence and retention rule setup, archive job administration, retrieval validation, and ILM-enabled archival operations
  • Strong technical insight into SAP archival processes, SAP ILM architecture, archive storage integration, data retention, legal hold and destruction concepts, and compliant data retrieval
  • Experience defining or contributing to SAP Data Volume Management strategy, object prioritisation, data growth analysis, and roadmap alignment with SAP S/4HANA or large-scale SAP transformation programmes
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to facilitate constructive dialogue with senior stakeholders, translate strategy into clear priorities, and communicate with confidence across all levels of the organisation
  • A BSc, MBA, or similar degree in a relevant field such as Software Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience
