We are seeking an exceptional leader to spearhead our Rare Endocrine and Haemato-Renal Franchise at Novo Nordisk Rare Disease.

Novo Nordisk Rare Disease is a unit within the leading global healthcare company Novo Nordisk. Our purpose is to drive change to defeat rare blood and endocrine disorders. We do so by pioneering scientific breakthroughs, expanding access to our medicines and working to prevent and ultimately cure disease.  

 

Novo Nordisk Rare Disease has employees across 14 sites around the world working to bring our marketed products to over 100 countries and ensuring a strong development pipeline. Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, the commercial unit or Rare Disease Global has around 100 dedicated and passionate employees working closely with the broader organisation. 

 

The Rare Endocrine and Haemato‑Renal (RED & HR) division is one of the two core portfolio areas within Novo Nordisk Rare Disease, focused on addressing high unmet needs in rare endocrine, and haemato-renal complement-mediated disorders through innovative science and a growing pipeline. The team consists of highly qualified and committed professionals, based in Zurich and Denmark.

 

The position
As the new Vice President (VP) of Rare Endocrine (RED) and Haemato-Renal (HR), you will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Rare Disease at Novo Nordisk and will play a key role in the leadership team of the area. 

 

You will be responsible for maximizing the commercial value of the RED & HR franchise with a strong focus on enhancing our existing portfolio within Rare Endocrine and driving our expansion into the Haemato-Renal area.

 

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and refining the Rare Endocrine and Haemato-Renal therapy area and portfolio strategies to align with the overall Rare Disease and corporate strategies of Novo Nordisk, in close collaboration with early research, clinical development and other areas across the value chain.
  • Ensuring the growth of our Rare growth disorders portfolio through new launches and LCM.
  • Leading the global commercial launch preparations and go to market strategies for our novel new asset for Haemato-Renal disorders spanning multiple indications
  • Driving the portfolio to maximize project and product value; ensuring accountability to governance boards for project progress, following approved objectives and key deliverables.
  • Leading a small team of highly qualified employees. This team works cross-functionally with medical (anchored in Rare Disease Global) as well as business development and clinical development who are part of the approximately 4000 people working on Rare Disease across Novo Nordisk.
  • Developing and nurturing a high-performing, cross-functional organisation that supports the Rare Endocrine and Haemato-Renal commercial agenda.
  • Cultivating relationships and engaging with internal and external stakeholders to effectively deploy and execute strategies. Key internal stakeholders include early research, clinical development, and key markets globally.
  • Identifying and maximizing long-term organic growth opportunities while scouting for attractive business development prospects.

 

The role is based in Zurich, Switzerland.


Qualifications
You are an accomplished leader from a large pharmaceutical company or biotech, with 15+ years of experience in commercial marketing and operations ideally across both affiliate and global roles. 

 

In addition, you bring:

  • Deep expertise in portfolio and therapy‑area leadership, with a strong track record of managing assets across the lifecycle and delivering successful global and local launches.
  • Proven leadership in complex, matrixed organisations, building ambitious, high‑performing teams with a strong focus on talent and capability development.
  • Solid understanding of the end‑to‑end drug development value chain, with demonstrated collaboration upstream with Medical and Science and downstream with markets.
  • Extensive experience shaping and executing global marketing, go‑to‑market, and promotional strategies.
  • Broad therapeutic area exposure with the experience in multiple therapeutical areas, preferably in rare diseases.
  • P&L and/or general management experience, preferably in an affiliate or in‑market role.
  • Strong global mindset, with a proven ability to influence and drive outcomes in a complex, matrix environment.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
