We are looking for VP Communications that will lead external and internal communication strategies for International Operation (IO), a region that covers 194 countries and 95% of the world’s population. The role offers a unique opportunity to shape a new consumer segment in Obesity medicine while building on a strong heritage and brand reputation of Novo Nordisk. Reporting to the Corporate Vice President, Corporate Affairs for IO, the VP leads a team of experienced communication professionals and works in close collaboration with colleagues in the affiliates across the region. Additionally, the VP is the Chair of the IO Communication group, and a member of the Global Communications Leadership team, directly contributing to Novo Nordisk global communication strategy.

The position is based in IO headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. 

 

 

The position

As VP Communications, you will:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with corporate goals and enhance the organization’s reputation.
  • Oversee all internal and external communication matters within IO ensuring timely and effective messaging across all channels. This includes direct support to the IO Executive Vice President and the IO Management team with developing core narratives and messaging, media briefings and general cross-functional projects. 
  • Manage and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders, including the general public, shareholders, investors, and government entities.
  • Promote and protect the organization’s reputation through proactive media engagement, crisis communication planning, and strategic messaging.
  • Build functional competencies and develop the communications organization in IO to ensure it is fit for the future.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the IO Communications team, ensuring flawless execution of global and IO priorities.

 

 

Qualifications

We are looking for a strategic leader with the following qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or MBA preferred) in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or another relevant field
  • Extensive experience in communications and public relations, with complex multinational organization in pharma or FMCG.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in senior leadership roles coupled with a strong track record in setting communications strategies  
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement capabilities and ability to navigate complex matrix setting
  • Ability to maneuver diverse cultural landscapes and tailor communication strategies to global audiences while respecting local nuances
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities to drive innovation and support the development and upskilling of the affiliates within IO
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing teams
  • High resilience and experience with crisis management
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and consulting skills
