The Position

The Materials & Logistics Associate will provide multi-faceted support to Materials, Warehouse and Logistics functions. Daily routines will consist of providing direct support to materials and warehouse operations and internal business partners.



Reports to: According to the organizational chart.


Number of subordinates with direct/indirect referral: 0


Essential Functions


  • Coordinate department continuous improvement activities
  • Champion department Floor Management Developmental System (FMDS)
  • Manage inventory in SAP in accordance with Lean inventory principles
  • Maintain material master data in SAP
  • Manage deviations within the Quality Management System.
  • Participate in and support quality audits
  • Support shipping and receiving activities
  • Perform customs release processing – Provide information to customs, FDA, and other regulatory agencies for release of imported materials.
  • Coordinate pickup and deliveries of materials imported from DK
  • Perform all other duties or tasks as required.
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a compliant and ethical manner and in accordance with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations and industry codes.
  • Incorporate the Novo Nordisk Way and 10 Essentials in all activities and interactions with others.


Physical Requirements

  • The ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, and walk.
  • The ability to push, pull, lift, finger, and grasp.
  • The ability to speak, listen, and understand verbal and written communication.
  • Repetition including substantial movement of wrists, hands, and or fingers.
  • Lifting up to 33 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Visual acuity to perform close activities such as: reading, writing, and analyzing; operating a motor vehicle or heavy equipment, and to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
  • The working environment includes a variety of physical conditions, working in narrow aisles, and temperature changes

  • Education and Certifications

    • High school diploma required.  Associates Degree or some college-level courses preferred.

  • Work Experience

    • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in warehouse or materials functions, preferably in a Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry setting with a High School diploma, or six (6) years’ relevant experience with an Associate’s degree, or three (3) years relevant experience with Bachelors Degree or higher

    • 2 years’ experience as a process improvement professional, or 1 year experience with intermediate level process improvement certification preferred 

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; good presentation skills required.
    • Excellent analytical and computer skills including Excel and material management systems.
    • Two years of experience in a warehouse ERP system; SAP preferred.
    • Knowledge of Biotech/Pharmaceutical production supply chain principles and cGMPs required.
    • Proven process improvement and problem-solving skills.
    • Able to develop and manage action plans to achieve targets.
