The Position
This position has primary responsibility to support Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) in the areas of workplace health/safety or environmental compliance/waste management. Under general direction, identifies and eliminates occupational hazards, conducts incident investigations, manages wastes for disposal, collects data for regulatory reporting, ensures readiness of emergency systems and equipment, and participates as an emergency responder. Monitors and ensures site compliance with local, state, and federal standards for occupational safety as well as environmental regulations.
This role will be focused on the Health and Safety 90% of the time and provide Environmental backup support 10% of the time.
This position is located in West Lebanon, New Hampshire and will require onsite work and collabortation. It is a fulltime (40 hours per week) position and the standard schedule is Monday-Friday (8:00am-5:00pm).
Qualifications
- Education and Certifications:
- High School diploma required. Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
- Work Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience with an Associates degree or High School diploma
- No previous experience required with a Bachelors degree
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and manage time effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Able to take direction
- Quality mindset
- Experience with MS Office Suite
- Ability to read and understand documentation and standard operating procedures
- Understanding of cGMP requirements preferred
- Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations preferred
- Able to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR, Hazardous Materials Training (DoT), New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NH DES) Hazardous Waste Coordinator (HWC), and HAZWOPER certifications
Essential Functions
- Health & Safety
- Investigate minor accidents or incidents under the direction of an on-site EHS professional
- Conduct Workplace Assessments and determine corrective actions to mitigate risks
- Approve and issue work permits (Hot Work, Confined Space, etc.) in accordance with site policies
- Evaluate and approve usage of new chemicals and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Support site projects and initiatives by conducting EHS Management of Change assessments
- Environmental & Waste Management
- Collect, label, store, and ship hazardous and non-hazardous wastes under the direction of an on-site EHS professional
- Inspect waste accumulation/storage areas and maintain associated compliance records
- Execute waste disposal and recycling programs while recommending ideas for reducing volume and costs
- Collect data for management/environmental reporting at the direction of Supervisor
- Shared Functions
- Perform periodic inspections of emergency response systems and equipment
- Support continuous improvement of EHS programs, management systems, and compliance documentation
- Coordinate with external contractors and consultants as required to accomplish tasks
- Other duties as assigned
- Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a compliant and ethical manner and in accordance with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations and industry codes

Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required. The ability to climb, kneel, reach, and walk. The ability to push, pull, and lift. The ability to speak, listen, and understand verbal and written communication. Lifting up to 33lbs/15kg of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual acuity to perform close activities such as: reading, writing, and analyzing; and to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. The working environment includes a variety of physical conditions including: noise, inside and outside conditions including temperature changes; atmospheric conditions including: odors, fumes, and dust.
