The Position
This position has primary responsibility for routine maintenance and troubleshooting of manufacturing process equipment and utilities systems such as: HVAC, heating/hot water, boilers, chillers, natural gas, electronics, electrical systems, plant steam, clean steam, wastewater/water treatment, and various process equipment systems throughout facility. This role will monitor and maintain site equipment and respond to unplanned equipment and utilities issues on our night shift. Prior experience in a similar life science, pharmaceutical, or similar GMP sterile/cleanroom environment is preferred but not required. This could be a great opportunity for someone coming from a mechanic or maintenance background in a different industry who is looking to apply their experience within a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This position will require working in our sterile cleanroom areas, more information included in the essential functions.
The shift schedule for this role will align with our Front End Nights manufacturing schedule which rotates every other week:
- Week 1: 7am-7pm Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
- Week 2: 7am-7pm Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
- During initial onboarding and training there will be some training during day shift hours required.
Relationships
Reports to: Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, Nights
Essential Functions
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) of plant equipment
- Respond to and rectify alarm conditions on plant equipment
- Perform troubleshooting, repair and corrective maintenance (CM) of manufacturing related equipment
- Develop and maintain a knowledge of building and process automation systems (BMS and PCS)
- Interfaces with engineering and/or manufacturing departments to schedule work in parallel with manufacturing operations
- Complete assigned PM work orders and Facilities work requests within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Working in the cleanroom areas may require wearing: hairnet, beard cover, frocks/coveralls, shoe covers, snood, face mask, sterile gloves, and to follow GMP processes at all times. Examples of prohibited materials in cleanroom areas may include (but are not limited to): food/drink/gum, jewelry, cosmetics, nail acrylics, perfume/cologne, and personal cell phones
- Train junior personnel
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team
- Perform all other duties or tasks as assigned
- Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a compliant and ethical manner and in accordance with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations and industry codes
- Incorporates the Novo Nordisk Way and 10 Essentials in all activities and interactions with others
Qualifications
- Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Work Experience:
- Three (3) years minimum experience in equipment operation and maintenance (Facilities related systems preferred)
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Possess basic mechanical knowledge
- Ability to read and understand equipment and system drawings
- Knowledge of proper use of hand tools
Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required. The ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand and walk. The ability to push, pull, lift, finger, feel and grasp. The ability to speak, listen and understand verbal and written communication. Repetition including substantial movement of wrists, hands and or fingers. Lifting up to 33lbs/15kg of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual acuity to perform close activities such as: reading, writing and analysing; and to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. The working environment includes a variety of physical conditions including: noise, vibration, inside and outside conditions including temperature changes, extreme cold and extreme heat; proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. The working environment frequently includes close quarters and narrow aisles or passageways.
