You will lead external communication for one of Novo Nordisk’s most dynamic regions, connecting multiple diverse countries across East Europe. You will have the opportunity to set the tone for how we engage with media, influencers, and stakeholders – translating business ambition into stories that drive change.

 

 

Your new role

As our External Affairs Director, you will be responsible for enhancing Novo Nordisk’s public presence and ensuring that our voice remains authentic, engaging, and impactful. You will focus on earned and owned media strategies and guide the organisation in strengthening its communication capabilities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Aligning communication priorities with business objectives across multiple departments.
  • Developing an External Communication Framework and Toolkit for the region.
  • Leading public and media engagement, managing reputation and issue response when needed.
  • Partnering closely with Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Patient Engagement to deliver unified and meaningful storytelling.
  • Managing relationships with media, influencers, and agencies, ensuring alignment and brand consistency.
  • Advising senior leaders and affiliates on communication strategies and capability building.
  • Using insights and performance data to continuously improve communication outcomes.

 

 

Your new department

You will join International Operations- Novo Nordisk’s largest operational unit, which reaches 35 million patients across 194 countries every day. Within this structure, Business Area East Europe spans 19 countries, making it one of the company’s most strategically significant regions for growth through 2026. The team drives impact through close collaboration with local affiliates, uniting diverse markets under one shared vision to improve health outcomes.

 

 

Your skills & qualifications

We are looking for a communicator who can think strategically and act decisively. Someone who thrives on working across borders, managing complex stakeholder landscapes, and crafting narratives that resonate both locally and regionally.

You will bring:

  • A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in communications, external affairs, public relations, or a related field - ideally from FMCG, OTC, or integrated communication agencies.
  • Proven experience managing media relations, influencers, and external partners in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong understanding of digital and social media platforms and how to leverage them for impact.
  • Exceptional written and spoken English with strong storytelling ability.
  • A collaborative mindset, cultural sensitivity, and the drive to innovate and connect the dots across the business.
