Medical Science Liaison

Join Novo Nordisk Canada as a Medical Science Liaison and help translate scientific evidence into real-world improvements in patient care across Eastern Ontario.

Your new role
As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in the Cardiometabolic team, you are a vital scientific resource who establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with key external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and academic institutions. You serve as a bridge between the clinical community and Novo Nordisk, providing expert scientific knowledge to support research, product understanding, and clinical care. The role involves disseminating accurate and relevant information while engaging in scientific discussions that enhance the understanding of our portfolio and its impact on patient care.

Day-to-day your tasks will include:

  • Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals to support scientific exchange and address unmet medical needs.
  • Communicating complex clinical and scientific information clearly to external stakeholders, providing robust medical education on clinical data and molecule knowledge.
  • Identifying and reporting unmet needs and insights from the field to inform clinical strategy and development.
  • Supporting clinical research initiatives, including investigator-initiated studies and clinical trial activities.
  • Representing Novo Nordisk at conferences and scientific meetings to present data and gather insights.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical, Regulatory and Commercial teams to align on strategic scientific objectives.
  • Acting with scientific integrity and compliance while responding to scientific inquiries

Your skills & qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should:

  • Hold a terminal degree (PhD, MD or PharmD)
  • Have 3–5 years’ relevant pharmaceutical industry experience or equivalent professional experience in a scientific or medical discipline.
  • Be based in Eastern Ontario and able to cover the territory, with the flexibility to travel frequently across the region (up to 70% travel, including occasional overnight stays).
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and have a valid passport/visa that enables travel to the United States and Europe for scientific meetings.
  • Demonstrate strong ability to interpret and present complex clinical data clearly and confidently to healthcare professionals and academic stakeholders.
  • Have experience supporting clinical research initiatives and engaging with Key Opinion Leaders in cardiometabolic disease, obesity or diabetes — this experience is highly valued.
  • Bring excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and a service-oriented mindset to build respectful, collaborative relationships with KOLs and healthcare teams.
