The Position

 

As a Medical Advisor (Cardiometabolic) -Canada, you will:

  • Help translate scientific data and global strategy into a tailored Canadian medical plan for current and pipeline assets within all relevant and applicable regulations and compliance standards
  • Oversee the execution of the cardiometabolic medical plan including but not limited to Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement, advisory boards or medical education
  • Be the local therapeutic area expert and effectively communicate scientific and medical knowledge to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Leverage your expertise to support important clinical development, communications, regulatory and market access outcomes
  • Provide accurate and balanced medical reviews for all relevant promotional and commercial claims/tools.
  • Be a strategic partner in the development of brand strategy, planning, and tactics.
  • Identify evidence gaps and contribute to clinical and outcomes/real world research.
  • Develop and execute a local scientific data dissemination & communications plan
  • Liaise with key patient and professional stakeholder associations relevant to the cardiometabolic therapeutic area
  • Effectively collaborate with key internal, regional and global stakeholders within a matrixed organization.
  • Plan and manage the medical brand budget and ensure financial accountability

 

 

Qualifications

 

Need to have:

  • Healthcare degree or combined relevant clinical and professional experience, including but not limited to MD, PharmD/pharmacist, PhD, master’s in science, advance nurse practitioner etc.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of combined experience in the Canadian healthcare clinical and/or Canadian pharmaceutical industry in the relevant therapeutic area (medical affairs, cardiometabolic).
  • Good understanding of the Canadian health care system, reimbursement pathways, and therapeutic areas
  • Solid mastery of the key regulations including Health Canada Guidance, Innovations Medicines Canada and PAAB (Pharmaceutical Advertising Advisory Board)
  • Strong Scientific background enabling understanding, interpretation and application of evidence-based medicine.
  • Exceptional communication skills demonstrated in written, spoken and presentation skills

Nice to have:

  • Medical Science Liaison (MSL) or medical advisor experience in the Canadian cardiometabolic landscape
  • Bilingual (French and English) strongly preferred

Join our dynamic cardiometabolic medical affairs head office team in Canada.  We are committed to tackling important chronic metabolic conditions that will ultimately make a difference in the lives of patients.  Our department is responsible for establishing and executing the medical affairs strategy and tactical plan for all current and future cardiometabolic assets.   We are strong internal strategic partners but remain steadfastly externally focused to ensure our medical solutions will work within the complex Canadian healthcare environment.  Our collaborative and innovative environment fosters growth and development, making it an exciting place to work.  The office is in Mississauga with head office personnel in the office 3 days per week.
