Do you have a passion to make a difference in patient’s lives? An exciting opportunity has become available for a full time Medical Advisor/Senior Medical Advisor to join our successful and high-performing Medical Affairs Department located in our new Sydney head office.

Novo Nordisk Oceania is in an exciting growth phase, with an exciting pipeline of innovative products and the team is expanding in Australia.


The Position

The position of Medical Advisor is an essential part of the Medical Affairs team, with a specific emphasis on developing and leading the medical strategy for obesity and the opportunity to work on a high profile and exciting new launch product. The role is an integral part of a highly collaborative cross functional team and has great visibility across the organisation.


This position requires:

  • Strategy development – strong strategic ability to develop and lead the medical strategy for a launch product; collaboration with internal stakeholders to shape strategy; execution of a broad range of activities aligned to strategy
  • KOL Engagement - Identification of KOLs and development of relationships and speaker engagements, development and conduct of advisory boards; communication of relevant scientific and clinical data.
  • Publication Planning - Creation of the affiliate publication plan; presentation of publications at national and international conferences; engagement of external authors.
  • Medical Education - Develop and implement the obesity Medical education strategy in collaboration with other business units; review of all sales-led medical education meetings and Accredited medical education; attendance at conferences and congresses.
  • Medical Guidance - Adaptation of global medical strategy for incorporation into the obesity brand strategy, including the creation of Medical activity plans; Conduct internal training in conjunction with the MSL team; translation of scientific information for internal stakeholders to assist with the development and implementation of strategy; Approval of promotional material; Provision of tailored medical responses.



  • A PhD in life sciences, a Medical Degree (MD) or a postgraduate qualification in pharmacy or a life science is desired.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in medical affairs, preferably as a Medical Advisor, with experience in product launch.
  • Local industry experience or clinical experience relevant to the company's therapeutic interests in endocrinology,  diabetes and/or obesity or related areas, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with TGA and other local regulatory guidelines is required.


You must be able to meet the work and travel requirements of the role including the flexibility for regular travel away from home and the occasional after-hours and weekend work.  You must either be an Australian Citizen or have a current residency Visa to live and work in Australia.
