Your new role
As Senior Legal & Compliance Counsel, you will be a trusted partner to Novo Nordisk's business in Sweden, providing strategic and pragmatic advice across a broad range of activities in a fast-moving, highly regulated environment. You will navigate complexity with confidence, often where the regulatory framework is evolving or where there is no straightforward answer, exercising sound judgement to help stakeholders find practical ways forward.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Advising the organisation on a wide variety of legal, ethics and compliance matters, including initiatives related to obesity and diabetes care, patient engagement, new business approaches and external partnerships
- Working closely with senior stakeholders and colleagues across multiple functions, providing clear and actionable guidance on cross-functional projects and initiatives
- Identifying relevant legal and compliance considerations within the business context and translating them into practical recommendations that enable responsible decision-making
- Helping ensure Novo Nordisk maintains the highest ethical standards while pursuing opportunities for growth and innovation
- Supporting the business on broader legal, ethics and compliance matters as they arise, bringing agility and prioritisation to a dynamic and evolving landscape
This role can be based in either our Stockholm or Malmö office.
Your new department
As part of International Operations, you will join our largest operational unit. Covering 194 countries and 95% of the world's population, more than 18,000 of us work passionately to serve 35 million patients each day. Within International Operations, you will join the Swedish Legal & Compliance department, a close-knit team of four. You will collaborate primarily within the European and Canadian region, where the Legal, Ethics & Compliance organisation consists of about 150 people. Ultimately, you will be part of a Global Legal organisation of around 700 colleagues worldwide. The Swedish organisation itself gathers more than 100 people, giving you the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across functions while being connected to a truly global network.
Your skills & qualifications
We are looking for a senior legal and compliance professional who combines strong pharmaceutical expertise with a commercial mindset, curiosity and the confidence to navigate complex and ambiguous situations.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A Master of Laws (LL.M.) or corresponding degree, A degree in Swedish law is meriting but not required
- Ideally 7+ years of relevant experience providing legal and compliance advice within the pharmaceutical or broader life sciences industry - including significant experience from an in-house environment or a law firm advising pharmaceutical companies.
- A strong understanding of the legal, regulatory, ethics and compliance environment relevant to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. Additional experience from OTC, retail or other consumer-facing businesses is an advantage
- A business-oriented and commercially minded approach, with the ability to understand business objectives and translate legal and compliance considerations into clear, practical recommendations - even at short notice
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex legal and compliance matters clearly to both senior leaders and non-legal colleagues
- Strong integrity, personal ownership and the courage to challenge constructively when needed, combined with curiosity and a genuine interest in understanding the business environment in which Novo Nordisk operates
- Fluency in English and Swedish, both written and spoken

Salary
For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 922,620.00 to 1,337,800.00 SEK, corresponding to the level of the position.
The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge, and relevant experience.

The salary package may include short-term and/or long-term incentives as well as other employee benefits based on position level, location, functional area and relevant market benchmarks.
