About the department

The Legal & Compliance department in Novo Nordisk plays a critical role in ensuring ethical business practices, compliance with regulations, and high-quality operations. As a member of the Leadership Team, you will be instrumental in managing legal affairs, business ethics compliance, and quality standards for the affiliate.
This role reports to the General Manager and will oversee Singapore and Brunei.
The position
As the Legal Compliance and QA Manager, you are expected to hold overall accountabilities for all Legal and Business Ethics (BE) Compliance matters in the Affiliate, providing proactive advice and risk assessment, in compliance with Novo Nordisk policies and external laws and regulations.
Other role expectations are as follows but is not limited to:
- Oversee the implementation and ongoing evaluation of the Global and International Operations (IO) Legal strategy, ensuring compliance with relevant laws in the Affiliate while collaborating with BA Legal and IO Legal Teams. It includes monitoring legal trends and developments, providing business-oriented legal support for key projects, litigation, disputes, and arbitrations, and coordinating external law firms according to Global Legal guidelines. The position also involves managing the Affiliate's legal budget, reviewing promotional materials on Veeva/Vault PromoMats, and supporting interactions with authorities such as the Ministry of Health and Health Sciences Authority Singapore.
- Ensure efficient archiving of legal documents and effective contract management, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts as needed.
- Implement the Global and IO BE Compliance Plan, developing local policies to meet legal and industry requirements, maintaining a compliance framework for Singapore and Brunei, providing high-quality advice and training on BE Compliance, networking to ensure alignment, and preparing reports and presentations on compliance issues for management teams.
- Analyse legal and BE Compliance risks, providing assessments to relevant teams, implementing action plans to minimize risks in collaboration with management, and overseeing due diligence as the final reviewer for the affiliate.
- Maintain an overview of local personal data and compliance documentation, fostering a compliance mindset within the organization, supporting risk assessments and providing guidance on personal data protection, and driving responses to data breaches and data subject requests.
Qualifications
- Law Degree from high-ranked Law School and a member of the applicable legal bar/law soci-ety. Ph.D. in Law or LL.M. degree or equivalent is desirable.
- Experienced and qualified lawyer with a minimum of 6 years’ legal experience, with at least 2 years in the pharmaceutical, chemical, life sciences or medical device industry.
- Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical regulation and business transactions in the Affiliate.
- In-depth experience with Business Ethics and Compliance in pharmaceutical or medical de-vice industry (including codes of conduct, FCPA and UK Anti-bribery Act)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
