About the department
The Legal, Ethics, Compliance & Quality (LECQ) function is all about supporting business growth while safeguarding the company and its patients. Going beyond the role as advisers, we partner with the business to drive new ways of working, manage risks and empower the different functions to seize opportunities to better serve our patients and outperform competition.
The position
As Legal & Compliance Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in supporting: (a) legal and compliance matters for BASEA and (b) broader strategic priorities for APAC LECQ, including regional communication initiatives and project management. You will be an integral member of the region APAC LECQ team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure effective practices that align with regional objectives. The role will report to the Vice President, LECQ, Region APAC.
Support BASEA by working closely with the Senior Director for Legal & Compliance covering BASEA affiliates through the following:
- provide comprehensive support to the Senior Director on legal and compliance matters, including advice, contracts, and compliance reviews.
- lead communication efforts towards BASEA and its management team, including on key annual awareness initiatives such as Ethics Days and Quality Day and overall Legal and Compliance operations support.
- support BASEA affiliates during business ethics audits, on post-audit corrective actions, and work closely with them to ensure general audit-readiness.
- drive bi-annual legal and compliance risk reporting process, ensuring timely input from affiliates and identification and sparring on top risks.
Support APAC LECQ strategic priorities by working closely with the rest of the team to do the following:
- identify and share legal and compliance trends with affiliates and colleagues in the APAC LECQ team, to inform decision making and focus areas.
- lead strategic projects and communication efforts for APAC LECQ, including on key annual awareness initiatives such as Ethics Days and Quality Day.
- coordinate training and knowledge-sharing initiatives and advise on personal data protection in partnership with local Data Ethics Responsibles (DERs)
- provide general project management for ad-hoc projects within APAC LECQ
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in law, business management, or a related field.
- A master’s degree or membership of legal bar/law society is an advantage
- Preferably 5+ years of legal and compliance experience, including at least 2 years in the pharmaceutical, chemical, life sciences, medical device, or other highly regulated industries. Experience and a solid understanding of pharmaceutical regulations and risk management is a strong advantage.
- Excellent project management and communication skills, particularly with experience managing regional and global initiatives in legal and compliance.
- In-depth experience with Business Ethics and Compliance in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry, including familiarity with codes of conduct, the FCPA, and the UK Anti-Bribery Act.
