In Novo Nordisk Korea, we are looking for talented Medical Manager who can lead the scientific medical communication, development and implementation of impactful projects with Health Care Providers (HCPs) and Opinion Leaders (OLs) in the field of Cardiovascular disease (with the main focus on Cardiologists) and other stakeholders to ensure a good understanding of Novo Nordisk (NN) thera-peutic concepts, products and data, with a focus on GLP-1 data leading to an op-timal access and usage of the products for the benefit of patients. The position
You will be instrumental in providing medical and scientific expertise and supporting scientific storyline and medical strategies development for Novo Nordisk products.
This position will manage 4 team members that are in charge of diabetes and obesity medical affairs. It is a newly created people manager position.
The Cardiometabolic Medical Affairs team will be instrumental in the identification and segmentation of KOLs relevant to mainly diabetes and obesity and developing engagement plans, including obtaining expert advice to guide local decisions and strategy. The team will also be responsible for:
- Drafting and adapting a global publication plan according to local needs and regulations
- Liaising with relevant professional associations, including congress activities
- Providing internal guidance and training to support capability building and clinical operations in the execution of clinical trials
- Seeking opportunities and advice to understand the market and patient pathways in diabetes and obesity to support internal medical and commercial business decisions
Medical Affairs Team Management:
- Manage Medical Advisors dedicated to the Diabetes and Obesity disease areas
- Ensure smooth operation of the team by properly allocating resources, budget, and task prioritization
- Contribute to the timely planning and implementation of affiliate Medical Affairs strategy aligned with the business plan and brand plan
- Set SMART goals for performance and individual development while ensuring timely review with constructive feedback
- Contribute actively to medical management and cross-functional project groups
Scientific Medical Excellence:
- Drive advanced scientific therapeutic area development and lead local cross-functional working groups
- Drive launch preparation and collaborate with the cross-functional team
- Map the healthcare system and patient care/treatment pathways
- Provide medical and scientific consultation for stakeholders and support local treatment guidelines
- Develop scientific agendas and content for meetings and advisory boards, ensuring effective speaker engagement and utilization of gathered insights
- Ensure timely, accurate, and balanced communication of data to the scientific and medical community
- Plan and execute abstracts, posters, and oral presentations at national conferences and manuscripts for journals
- Be responsive and proactive regarding competitor activities and facilitate timely corrective actions
- Secure real-world evidence (RWE) and support Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) for responsible products
- Analyze country-level data needs to prepare for successful launches and address stakeholder evidence needs
KOL Engagement:
- Lead KOL mapping, segmentation, and engagement planning
- Support partnerships with KOLs in alignment with Novo Nordisk's therapeutic strategies to improve patient outcomes
- Design KOL engagement activities and gather clinical insights/feedback to communicate with internal stakeholders
- Develop relationships with KOLs and collaborate with cross-functional teams for product advocacy or advisory board discussions
- Engage with local associations and organizations
Medical Education:
- Increase awareness of Novo Nordisk products/disease areas through presentations and training sessions, CMEs, in line with business strategy
- Plan and execute non-promotional scientific activities, including medical education programs, symposiums, speaker training, and key scientific leader programs
- Stay updated on scientific knowledge through active participation in scientific meetings, conferences, CMEs, and sharing publications
Business Ethics & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Novo Nordisk principles and legal laws, protecting company interests and confidentiality of information
- Act ethically in line with Novo Nordisk's vision, policies, and charter
- Maintain Novo Nordisk's high profile among stakeholders by developing and maintaining strong relationships through liaison and networking
Qualifications
- PhD, MD, Pharmacist, or scientific background
- Solid professional medical expertise with more than 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry
- Professional experience in the field of preferably chronic cardiometabolic disease area including diabetes, obesity, CKD, cardiovascular, NASH, and other chronic diseases will be an added advantage (e.g. endocrinology, cardiovascular, etc).
- Solid understanding of the Medical Affairs role and activities in pharma industry, with the ability to leverage and grow and existing network of external stakeholders (HCP/HCO, KOL, PA, HA)
- Experience in project-based activities and successful track records of project/initiatives delivery
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
