Your new role

As an EHS Specialist, you will lead overall review on the documentation and work practices relating to EHS activities. You are also expected to manage government affairs and global/APAC requirements, activities, and events. This is a one-year contract-based position that can be extended based on the performance review.

Other key tasks will include: 

  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act, Serious Accidents Punishment Act and internal EHS regulation management; Serve as a member of both the APAC EHS committee and local EHS committee and lead quarterly meetings of the local EHS committee. Also, the person is expected to ensure accurate minutes are taken.
  • Manage EHS portal with investigation report of accidents and near-misses including reporting and follow up process, and work to meet all the government regulatory requirements as well as global/APAC requirements, activities and events; Implement risk assessments for Seoul and regional offices, conduct APAC Workplace Assessments (WPA); Take the responsibility for EHS online/offline training for all employees with newcomers
  • Handle the office building safety management (fire drill training, respond regular safety audit); work on safety audits and other EHS tasks agreed upon locally and globally (Employee health campaigns such as novohealth week, etc.)
  • Implement EAP (Employee Assistance Program) and Employee medical checkups while managing the related vendors; review/update EHS policies, documents, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as necessary, along with providing EHS-related management for in-house subcontract.

Your skills and qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following qualifications:

  • Korean Certificate of Industrial Safety Engineer in accordance with Korean regulatory requirements is a must.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in EHS area are preferred but not mandatory. Experiences in Global MNCs will be highly welcome. Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, Health & Safety, chemical engineering, or related field is required.
  • Solid knowledge of local laws and regulations (Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Serious Accidents Punishment Act (SAPA), etc.) is required. Work experiences with Serious Accidents Punishment Act is preferred.
  • Business-level proficiency in English for the effective documentation and communication with global/APAC EHS teams.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office proficiency, clear communication skills, professional attitude, and the ability to multitask and effectively manage time are required
