The position

As Vice President for Global Medical Affairs Diabetes you will report to the CVP of Global Medical Affairs for Diabetes, Cardiovascular & Chronic kidney disease (CVD/CKD) and Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). You will have 5 direct reports and a total of approx. 21 skilled employees, primarily medical doctors. It is within your responsibility to execute on the overall medical affairs strategy, create alignment in the senior management team and lead the implementation of strategic medical affairs topics worldwide.

 

In your daily work you will be required to drive strong collaboration with stakeholders inside and outside Novo Nordisk, facilitate strategic discussions based on insights and scientific analyses to enable future evidence generation and be responsible for driving credible and impactful scientific engagements internationally. Furthermore a strong focus on organisational development in a growing company with a broad portfolio will be required.

 

You will be working in a multicultural and global setting and must expect about 100 travelling day’s pr. year.

 

Qualifications

For this position you will need to have a degree as Medical Doctor preferably with speciality in endocrinology or related speciality with special interest and research or clinical experience. The preferred candidate will have at least 5 years of people management experience and strong leadership qualities as well as solid experience with budget and resource planning. You have experience as a clinician and if possible as a clinical investigator in clinical research/clinical development outside or within industry environment. You show high personal integrity and a natural way of building long lasting relations.

 

You have a solid track record of strategic thinking/planning, customer insights, being adaptable to change and commitment to cross functional collaboration. You will act as a senior representative of Global Medical Affairs in both internal and external fora and committees and are expected to contribute strategically at this level.

 

You have authority and the ability to take calculated risk-based decisions, and a natural talent to collaborate with peers and to engage and motivate people. We expect you to develop your talents, be able to coach your direct reports and be a role model for Medical Affairs. You have a strong drive, able to adapt to changing circumstance and excellent communication and presentation skills. You are fluent in English.

 

About the department
The VP area within Diabetes is a key strategic enabler for the company, covering both our insulin and GLP-1RA portfolio, as well as future inoonvations within diabetes. The area works closely together with both clinical development colleagues and our commercial functions. .
