The job

As our Vice President (VP) for Global Medical Affairs (GMA), Obesity you will be responsible for the development, execution and communication of the Global Medical Affairs operational and scientific strategy for the late-stage compounds of our Obesity portfolio (phases 2, 3, and 4 , including RWE). You will be a leader of leaders to ensure successful end-to-end business processes with a strong focus on execution, communication, compliance and collaboration across the business and portfolio.

 

Reporting into the Corporate Vice President (CVP) of Global Medical Affairs (GMA) Obesity, MASH & ECH you will lead a team of at least 4 direct reports and up to 20 indirect referrals. You will represent GMA in Novo Nordisk Global Governance Boards with direct responsibility for the scientific project strategy.

 

This role is based in DK.

 

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • Lead the management and organisation of the GMA Obesity team: proactive lead according to Novo Nordisk Way, operating in alignment with the Obesity Therapeutic Area and Medical Affairs Strategy Direction. You will be responsible for ensuring cross-functional collaboration and synergies across Areas, including Commercial, Medical Affairs or Clinical Drug Development, as well as accountable for business decisions in compliance with international regulations and standards (EFPIA).
  • Define strategies and set direction for process/processes: amongst others, you will be responsible for developing, executing and delivering the Global Medical Affairs operational, scientific and communication strategy for the Obesity portfolio aligned with Company Strategy, including project and portfolio strategy within focused countries and including Key Opinion Leaders and Health Care Professional strategies, the execution of a publication strategy and plan, or the development of Product Development Plans for late-stage projects, clinical trial execution and communications.
  • Leadership: manage, motivate, train and develop a team of positive and engaged leaders in a culture of well-being. Capable of building strong relations with stakeholders within and beyond the organisation to enable execution of strategies and influence scientist, commercial and top management colleagues.

 

Qualifications

To ensure success in this role, you are expected to show a proven track record of the following functional and leadership skills:

  • MD, PhD or DMSci degree in a relevant discipline, preferably with speciality in Endocrinology and/or special interest and research experience in Obesity.
  • 5+ years of clinical experience managing as senior registrar and/or chief consultant, as well as extensive academic experience in direct research and administrative activities.
  • 5+ years of managerial experience in the pharmaceutical industry, overseeing junior faculty members or trainees in obesity or metabolism-related areas.
  • Experience in conducting clinical trials for obesity/metabolism drugs in development
  • Independent record of publications in high impact journals.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as an understanding of global and local procedures and approaches.
  • Interest, training and understanding in advanced clinical communication from clinical and/or basic research in obesity or metabolic diseases related areas.
  • International experience will be valued.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Global Medical Affairs, Obesity, is part of our Global Medical Affairs department within our Product & Portfolio Strategy Executive Function.
