We are looking for an experienced leader to join the diabetes project area and lead the diabetes clinical development team of medical and clinical pharmacology specialists.
This role within a newly created business area offers an exciting opportunity to focus on our innovative diabetes product pipeline and drive impact at scale in both clinical drug and device development.
The Diabetes area
The Diabetes project area is part of Novo Nordisk development organisation. We are leading the development of future treatment offerings for people living with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Novo Nordisk has a proud history within diabetes care, and we have ambitious plans for how to transform the future treatment options.
We are in the process of building a highly innovative portfolio based on novel targets from internal and external sources while progressing our existing development pipeline covering all clinical development stages.
In the Diabetes area, you will be part of a high-performance culture with focus on future patient needs, science, cross-functional collaboration, and personal engagement/development.
The position is placed in the Greater Copenhagen area, Denmark. If relevant, the relocation support would be provided as part of the package.
The position
The VP of Medical & Science is a highly visible position in the organisation. Reporting to the Corporate Project Vice President, Diabetes, the VP works with global senior stakeholders and is a member of the area’s leadership team and the Global Medical & Science Leadership Council. In addition, the VP builds and maintains partnerships with investigators, key opinion leaders, and health authorities.
You will oversee short-, mid-, and long-term planning and will lead and further develop Medical & Science Diabetes in alignment with the wider business strategies.
Together with the team, you will be responsible for medical and scientific matters related to drug development. This includes product development strategies, medical and scientific input across the value chain and interactions with health authoritie and external partners/advisors.
People leadership is a critical part of the role. You will lead an experienced team of 35+ people and will play an active role in coaching and developing your direct reports and setting the direction for the whole area. Supporting and enabling knowledge sharing across the team and the wider organisation as well as promoting collaboration will be an important part of the role.
You will play a key role in driving innovation through leading and participating in important global projects across the value chain and ensuring strategic partnership with research, development, and commercial teams as well as external business development stakeholders. In addition, you will ensure that the knowledge of the therapeutic areas and competitive environment is kept up to date.
Qualifications
You are an experienced leader with a strong clinical and/or research background, preferably holding a PhD and an MD Degree.
You will bring experience and a successful track record operating in senior strategic roles within clinical drug development, - and you will have an ambitious visionary approach to drug development for the future treatments with diabetes.
To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate strong people leadership skills and a proven track record of leading through others and developing and coaching high performing teams aligned with our business needs.
You will bring a positive energy and will foster and encourage collaboration across your team, within the organisation and externally. Ability to navigate a complex senior stakeholder landscape and operate in a multinational matrix environment is another critical skill in the role.
