About the department 

Novo Nordisk Rare Disease is a unit within the leading global healthcare company Novo Nordisk. Our purpose is to drive change to defeat rare blood and endocrine disorders. Rare Disease Market Access encompasses both the Market Access and Pricing functions for the complete Rare Disease product portfolio, which is categorized into Rare Renal & Endocrine, Growth Hormone, and Rare Blood Disorders. The Market Access team comprises of 17 dedicated and highly skilled professionals, divided into three teams, all based in Denmark. 

 

The position 

As the new VP of Market Access for Novo Nordisk Rare Disease, you will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Rare Disease at Novo Nordisk and will play a key role in the leadership team of the area.  

 

You will be responsible for leading a high-performing global market access function and ensuring optimal market access for all Rare Disease products globally, including products in the pipeline or immediate launch phase. 

 

In summary, you will: 

  • Develop and lead comprehensive global market access strategies tailored specifically for rare diseases, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and regulatory requirements. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including payers, health technology assessment (HTA) bodies, and reimbursement influencers, to advocate for favorable pricing and reimbursement decisions. 
  • Communicate the unique value propositions of rare disease products to both external stakeholders and internal teams, ensuring clarity on clinical outcomes, cost-effectiveness, and the overall impact on patient care. 
  • Oversee the design and implementation of quantitative and qualitative research initiatives to assess market dynamics, competitive landscape, and payer needs, using insights to inform pricing and access strategies. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Pricing, Medical Affairs, Real-World Evidence, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial Operations to ensure that market access considerations are integrated throughout the product life cycle, from development to post-launch. 

 

The role is based in the Greater Copenhagen area, Denmark. We are open to relocating international talent. 

 

Qualifications 

You are an accomplished market access leader in a multinational pharmaceutical or biotech company.  

 

In addition, you possess: 

  • Over 12 years in industry (over five in leadership roles), with a strong functional background in market access, particularly focused on rare diseases, and a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics, pricing, and reimbursement. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and managing global initiatives, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including payers and regulatory authorities. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying and analyzing emerging trends and scenarios, developing long-term market access strategies aligned with these insights.  
  • Proficiency in developing and executing market access strategies, including health economic modeling and real-world evidence, combined with strong analytical skills to interpret data and trends in the rare disease space. 
  • Proven ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences and negotiate access and reimbursement for rare disease therapies. 
  • A history of successful collaboration and influence within complex, matrix organizations, providing you with a global perspective. 
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field, such as health economics, science, or business/finance, with a strong analytical focus.
