Senior Global Trial Manager within Rare Disease & Advanced Therapies, Cell Therapies

Do you want to join a large, resourceful global development team that plays a crucial role in the ambitious drug development programmes at Novo Nordisk? Do you dream of the chance to build your career in a global company offering abundant opportunities for personal and professional development? And can you help us bring new treatments to patients, faster and smarter, by leading and optimising trial work within your area of expertise? Then you could be our new Senior Global Trial Manager.

The project area

Rare disease isn’t so rare. Collectively they affect over 30 million people in Europe and around 350 million people across the globe. Although there are more than 7,000 different rare diseases, most of them share similar characteristics: they are often chronic, lifelong genetic conditions (72%) with childhood onset (70%) and no cure. That result in decreased quality of life and a reduced life expectancy. At the same time there is diagnostic delay, lack of coordination of care and poor patient access to treatment and care are common challenges faced by people living with a rare disease. Quality of life measures lower than those for other chronic disorders.

Novo Nordisk has for many years been pioneers in rare blood disorders (such as haemophilia), and rare endocrine disorders (such as growth hormone deficiency). We have leadership positions within our fields, and we keep expanding into more indications and new therapeutic areas. Today we span over various technologies such as proteins, monoclonal antibodies, cells, and gene therapy as current platforms. We currently have several ongoing Phase 1-4 trials within Haemophilia, Growth Disorders and Sickle Cell Disease areas, and are soon preparing to enter new indications within Rare Blood and Endocrine Disorders. In addition, we are responsible for the execution of the Novo Nordisk stem cell portfolio.  Here you will get the opportunity to work on products entering human studies through to marketed products, in collaboration with colleagues in our affiliates worldwide, with no CRO involvement.

One of the reasons for our success is the way we are designing and conducting our clinical trials. These have a strong patient focus ensured by actively engaging with patients, patient organisations, study nurses and everyday medical experts in the clinical field. We use advanced innovative trial designs, and modern digital ways of collecting clinical data and patient reported outcome data from patients, e.g. by developing patient app’s and by applying decentralised trial elements in our trials.

The position

Join the pioneering Cell Therapy team working on bringing potential curative stem cell based therapy to patients living with Parkinson’s Disease. This is a frontrunner project, where we are to setup the very first Novo Nordisk sponsored Cell Therapy trial.

The trials within Cell Therapies are global trials, they have a high degree of complexity, and a strong patient focus. As Senior Global Trial Manager, you have responsibility for driving trial activities during all phases of the trial. You have end-to-end knowledge of the entire trial lifecycle, and you use a risk-based approach in your planning and decision making. Your core focus is to take a hands-on approach and assume full responsibility for the clinical trial work being executed.

Your responsibilities will also include: Oversight of trial progress, Identification and monitoring of operational risks, Handling issues , Actioning & tracking deviations and amendments; Overseeing deliverables from other stakeholders internally, in HQ and affiliates, and externally, Vendor management, Preparing input to facilitate efficient trial partner meetings, management reporting or other milestone-driven meetings and Support and on-the-job training of more junior colleagues.

The job is based in Søborg in Denmark but has a global scope. Limited travelling will be part of the job.
