Role overview

We are seeking an experienced epidemiologist to join Global Medical Affairs (GMA) on a six‑month short‑term assignment/parental cover to support Real‑World Evidence (RWE) planning and delivery. You will provide high‑quality epidemiologic input across integrated evidence planning, study design and operational execution, and help translate RWE findings into clear scientific output for internal and external stakeholders.

The position is 6-months maternity cover and it is based at our office in Søborg (Greater Copenhagen Area), Denmark.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide epidemiologic leadership for selected RWE projects: contribute to study designs, review and/or draft statistical analysis plans, and ensure robust methods and inference.
  • Support operational execution: coordinate with cross‑functional partners (Medical Affairs, Data Science, Market Access, R&D, Global Safety) and external partners (CROs, academic collaborators) to deliver on timelines and quality.
  • Promote epidemiologic best practice: advise teams on Good Pharmacoepidemiology Practices (GPP), data source selection (registries/real‑world databases), and methodological approaches to improve study quality.

Who you are — qualifications and experience

  • MSc or PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Life Sciences or equivalent.
  • Substantial applied experience in pharmacoepidemiology / RWE (ideally 5+ years; senior experience preferred).
  • Proven experience designing and overseeing RWE studies and familiarity with GPP.
  • Strong collaborator with experience working across functions and with external partners (CROs, KOLs, academia).
  • Excellent scientific communication and presentation skills; able to explain complex methods to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Hands‑on experience with real‑world data sources and analytical planning
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

What we offer

  • A focused, high‑impact short‑term role within a global Medical Affairs team at Novo Nordisk where your epidemiologic expertise will directly influence evidence generation and decision making.
  • Opportunity to work across functions and with international stakeholders to shape RWE output and publications.
  • Collaborative environment with mentorship and engagement with senior leaders and key opinion leaders.
