In Clinical Development and Project leadership we are responsible for managing clinical drug development worldwide from early development phases through large clinical development programmes, product approval and market introduction until discontinuation from the market. We ensure medical and scientific documentation for clinical submissions and maintenance of authorisations according to global standards, regulations, and business ethics.
The position
As Senior Director for one of our diabetes teams, you will be leading and managing a team of highly skilled Medical Specialists and guiding them in their daily work. You will manage relationships with internal and external key collaborators and stakeholders, including Novo Nordisk affiliates. It will be your responsibility to ensure the medical deliveries for key development and life cycle management projects.
You will report to the Vice President of Medical and Science, become a member of the area’s leadership team, and collaborate closely with the other leaders in the area. You will take an active part in developing the area as well as a lead role in various improvement projects, including process optimisations.
Qualifications
To thrive and succeed you:
- A Medical Doctor by training and have documented clinical and scientific merits from a Ph.D. degree or equivalent, preferably within an area related to our research.
- Experience in setting direction, leading, motivating, and developing team members.
- Strong understanding of drug development and have experience from pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Have a proven track record of executing clinical trials and interacting with health and regulatory authorities.
- Are fluent in professional English.

You may expect travelling activity of approximately 10-20 days per year.
About the department
In Medical & Science Diabetes, we are responsible for the planning and execution of global clinical trials and for medical and scientific support to health authority interactions within the Diabetes portfolio. We are instrumental in providing documentation and interpretation of clinical data leading to New Drug Applications (NDAs) and variation applications, periodic safety updates on marketed drugs, and drugs in clinical development, market access and external scientific communication. The department is based in a project-centric organisation, and internally we work in cross-functional teams. Our key external stakeholders are the scientific community and medical experts, regulatory authorities, and market access institutions.
