We are seeking an experienced leader to join the Obesity and Cardiometabolic Health Area in Medical and Translational Science with a strong focus on advancing the area driven by a deep understanding of science and relentless pursuit to innovate. This role is instrumental to the future success of the Obesity and Cardiometabolic Health Area and offers an exciting opportunity to focus on late-stage clinical development activities and submission activities, leading several teams covering the late-stage portfolio of our obesity pipeline.
The Department
The Obesity and Cardiometabolic Health area is part of Medical and Translational Science within the Novo Nordisk R&D organisation. We are built on Novo Nordisk’s proud history within cardiometabolic care to develop future treatment offerings for people living with obesity and associated comorbidities. We pioneer and oversee industry-leading trial programs and explore innovative and novel applications of our compounds and associated biology.
The area is driven by curiosity and the desire to explore and expand the opportunities in clinical medicine, rooted in deep scientific and clinical understanding of human health and the diseases we treat. You will become part of the leadership team for the Obesity and Cardiometabilic Health area with a keen focus on diversity and ensuring that everyone can contribute to make a difference in progressing our activities with high quality and speed with a focus on future patient needs, science and cross-functional collaboration. The position is based in the Greater Copenhagen area, Denmark. If relevant, the relocation support would be provided as part of the package.
The Position
The Senior Director of Submission and Life-Cycle Management is a highly visible position in the organisation. The role reports to the Vice President of Obesity and Cardiometabolic Health within Medical and Translational Science. You will oversee the later stages of our obesity pipeline focused on submission and life-cycle management activities and contribute to the development of the overall area in close collaboration with the leadership team and in alignment with the wider business strategies. Together with the team, you will be responsible for medical and scientific matters related to late stage drug development. This includes product development strategies, medical and scientific input across the value chain and interactions with health authorities, investigators, key opinion leaders and external partners/advisors.
People leadership is a critical part of the role. You will lead a group of first-line leaders, as well as specialists and be responsible for a team of 30+ people and will play an active role in coaching and developing your direct reports and setting the direction for the area. In addition, supporting and enabling knowledge sharing across the team (and the wider organisation) as well as promoting collaboration will be an important part of the role. You will play a key role in driving innovation through leading and ensuring strategic partnership with research, development, and commercial teams as well as external business devel-opment stakeholders. In addition, you will ensure that the knowledge of the therapeutic areas and competitive environment is kept up to date.
Qualifications
You are an experienced leader with a strong clinical and/or research background, preferably holding a PhD and an MD Degree. You bring experience and a successful track record operating in senior strategic roles within clinical drug development, and you will have an ambitious visionary approach to drug devel-opment approaches for future treatments in obesity.
To be successful in the role, you demonstrate strong people leadership skills and a proven track record of at least three years of leading through others and developing and coaching high performing teams aligned with our business needs. You bring a positive energy and will foster and encourage collaboration across your team, within the organisation and externally. In addition, the ability to navigate a complex senior stakeholder landscape and operate in a multinational matrix environment is another critical skill in the role.
This is an ideal position for a driven scientific and people leader who is interested in taking on a challenging and rewarding role that could boost their development, while offering a valuable opportunity to contribute to improving the lives of patients.
