The position
As the Senior Director of the Research Incubation Lab within the Transformational Prevention Unit (TPU), you will be part of an interdisciplinary team working to deliver science-based and scalable commercial solutions, that go beyond medicines, to prevent obesity in those at greatest risk.
The Research Incubation Lab will ideate and incubate cutting edge science and research with market potential, and establish partnerships aligned with the TPU product strategy. You will work with colleagues and subject matter experts across Novo Nordisk, and with external academic collaborators and companies to advance the science and evidence for prevention, and develop the ecosystem to enable scalable and sustainable implementation of preventive health products.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Be responsible for defining and prioritizing the TPU’s scientific focus areas.
- Identify potential partners through targeted scouting.
- Lead scientific discussions with leading researchers.
- Conduct scientific due diligence and evaluate research proposals.
- Drive key external scientific partnerships, as well as internal projects and initiatives, attracting and hosting scientific talent in the team.
You will report to the VP and Deputy Head of the TPU, becoming an essential member of the TPU leadership team. Your primary work location could be either in Søborg, Denmark, or Oxford, UK.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, we expect you to have:
- An academic degree (Ph.D., MD, or master’s) in life sciences, and several years of experience in an industry setting (for example pharma, med tech, or healthcare start-ups)
- Cardiometabolic disease experience (clinical, academic, or industry)
- Documented people management experience and experience in building and leading interdisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to establish strong professional networks, including external partners in academia and the public and private sector
- Experience in creating, developing healthcare products in a commercial setting
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
We are looking for a team member with great interpersonal skills, coupled with drive and dedication.
You have a solid understanding of drug discovery and development, and deep scientific knowledge and experience in cardiometabolic disease. Also, you have experience working with patient stratification, and solid experience developing evidence-based health solutions grounded in robust biological and clinical data.
About the Department

Novo Nordisk aims to contribute to addressing the obesity pandemic. That is why we have established Transformational Prevention Unit (TPU)— making the first instance within Novo Nordisk of a prevention unit spanning both Commercial and R&D functions.
