Shape the future of responsible data use in life-changing research. Bridge the worlds of compliance, innovation, and patient impact as you build frameworks that enable breakthrough therapies while protecting what matters most.
Your new role
As a Senior Data Governance Professional, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our data governance framework, ensuring its effective integration into ongoing initiatives—particularly access processes for human health data. Your work will directly enable researchers to advance transformative therapies while maintaining the highest ethical and regulatory standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating requests for access to human health data, balancing data utility with compliance and ethical standards
- Maintaining and optimising processes and policies that enable innovation while safeguarding privacy and regulatory requirements
- Coordinating governance activities across Lines of Business and relevant projects, ensuring seamless communication, monitoring progress, and guaranteeing compliance with all requirements
- Operationalising a data governance framework across new data modalities in Novo Nordisk Research & Development, adapting to evolving compliance requirements and user feedback
- Ensuring adherence to privacy, ethical, and regulatory requirements across all data governance activities
In addition, you will support the team by prioritising operational activities and driving continuous improvement initiatives across both technical and non-technical domains. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, as well as strong collaboration across stakeholders.
Your new department
In Research & Development, you'll be part of a unit that explores bold scientific ideas and advances them into clinical testing. We combine curiosity, AI tools, and human data to develop transformative therapies. Through collaboration and operational excellence, we shape and deliver an innovative pipeline to meet future patient needs.
Within this area, you'll join our R&D Data Governance team in the Data & AI Governance department—a group dedicated to enabling responsible innovation through robust governance frameworks. As our research expands into new therapy areas and data modalities, your role becomes increasingly critical. You'll work at the intersection of compliance, ethics, and scientific innovation, partnering with stakeholders across the organization to ensure our data practices support both breakthrough research and patient trust.
Your skills and qualifications
We are looking for a Senior Data Governance Professional who thrives at the intersection of compliance, innovation, and stakeholder collaboration. You bring a structured, proactive approach and the ability to navigate complex environments while driving meaningful impact.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field combined with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or project management, ideally within a pharmaceutical or technology environment, consulting, or a large organisation (an advanced degree is preferred)
- Demonstrated expertise in stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, and access management practices
- Experience translating business and compliance requirements into policies, processes, and operational controls
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills, enabling you to drive change across multiple stakeholders and partners
- An understanding of global data protection legislation and requirements, particularly GDPR, which would be considered a strong advantage
Additionally, you bring strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain governance concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. An innovative mindset and a passion for modern data governance will enable you to continuously improve data access frameworks.
A structured and methodical approach to tasks, combined with solid project management capabilities, will support your success in this role and ensure the effective delivery of governance initiatives.
