Safety Surveillance Specialist
Søborg, Capital Region of Denmark, DK
Your impact begins here
As a Safety Surveillance Specialist in the Safety Surveillance Development Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) team, you will help establish and shape the safety profile of new assets moving through clinical development. You will lead the analytical and medical evaluation of emerging aggregate safety data, turning complex findings into clear insights that guide strategic project decisions. Your work will influence patient surveillance and benefit-risk evaluations across our cardiovascular disease portfolio — helping improve patient lives worldwide.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for a colleague with a collaborative mindset who thrives on tackling complex safety challenges and turning data into meaningful insights. To succeed in this role, you likely have:
- A master’s degree within Medicine or Natural Sciences (e.g. MD, DVM, MSc Pharm or equivalent), possibly complemented by a PhD or research experience.
- Experience within drug development, clinical safety, pharmacovigilance, or other relevant scientific disciplines.
- A solid understanding of drug development processes, global regulatory requirements, GxP standards, and medical concepts.
- A proven ability to identify challenges, shape strategies, and translate them into clear, actionable steps.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to guide and influence others through mentorship and informal leadership.
- A self-driven, ethical, and adaptable approach — you work independently, address issues proactively, and stay flexible when priorities change.
- Empathy and a genuine team-player attitude, with the ability to build effective connections and collaborate seamlessly with internal and external stakeholders.
What you’ll do
You will take ownership of the scientific and strategic evaluation of safety data, working both independently and alongside skilled colleagues. In this role, you will:
- Lead the analytical and medical evaluation of emerging aggregate safety data from clinical studies and help establish and refine the product safety profile during development.
- Drive strategic safety assessments and benefit-risk evaluations across clinical development programmes, addressing complex challenges that influence patient surveillance and business decisions.
- Prepare safety contributions to study reports, regulatory submissions, protocols, and other key documents.
- Represent Safety Surveillance in cross-functional project teams, at external meetings, and when communicating safety data at larger forums.
- Identify and drive initiatives that strengthen scientific and strategic excellence within Safety Surveillance.
- Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
Who you’ll work with
You will join Safety Surveillance Development, part of Global Patient Safety and based in Søborg, Denmark. The area is responsible for establishing the safety profile of Novo Nordisk products throughout clinical development and for the critical analysis and medical evaluation of emerging safety data across the portfolio.
The team consists of 6 specialised teams supporting projects across therapeutic areas and development stages, primarily from phase 2 until regulatory approval. This position is in the CVD team, but we are flexible across teams when there is a need or a wish.
You will work closely with colleagues across Clinical Development, Medical & Translational Science, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, and other functional areas, as well as with external stakeholders. The environment is dynamic, collaborative, and science-driven, valuing diverse perspectives — because the strongest solutions emerge when people with different experiences and expertise work together.
