The position
As our Public Affairs Lead, Obesity Policy, you will be responsible for assessing and analysing trends in the external environment to support Novo Nordisk’s global public affairs strategy in obesity. With deep knowledge of health policies and formulation you will develop policy positions and other materials to support our external engagements and drive change for people living with obesity. You will need to collaborate closely with Global Public Affairs colleagues responsible for patient relations and partnerships as well as with colleagues across different functions and regions. 

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Proactively identify, assess and analyse trends and shifts in the political and policy environment to support Novo Nordisk’s global public affairs strategy in obesity 
  • Analyse the impact of health policies on Novo Nordisk’s priorities in obesity and develop briefings and materials to communicate this impact to a cross-functional audience 
  • Develop Novo Nordisk’s policy positions, and develop policy materials and re-sources to motivate affiliates to shape policy related to obesity 
  • Develop evidence-based narratives to improve quality of care for people living with obesity through policy change 
  • Benchmark policies from around the world and consolidate best practices to share with local affiliates, providing strategic advice to support local analyses of the policy landscape
  • Identify and exploit synergies in policy opportunities or challenges across other Novo Nordisk disease areas (eg diabetes, cardiovascular disease)


Qualifications
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a relevant degree in political science, international business or similar, along with the following skills and experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in policy development or public affairs within a govern-ment, pharmaceutical company or consultancy environment. Experience work-ing in chronic disease policy preferred.  
  • Preferably have worked internationally with a proven track record in delivering campaigns in multiple geographies
  • A deep understanding of health policy and health systems 
  • An analytical mindset and excellent project management skills 
  • Professional fluency of written and spoken English 

As an individual, you are energetic, proactive and a strong team player. You like to challenge the status quo as you pursue opportunities and create tangible solutions to complex problems. You have exceptional attention to detail, strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills and experience of working in a matrix organisation. You possess excellent communication and presentation skills. 

 

About the department
Global Public Affairs and Patient Relations (GPAPR) is part of the Global Public Affairs and Sustainability area in Novo Nordisk. We aspire to be a proactive and solutions-orientated partner to patients and policymakers in the joint ambition of raising the standards of care in our therapy areas, to help solve society’s fundamental challenges.

The role is anchored in the Obesity Policy Team, driving the development and execu-tion of the public affairs strategy for Novo Nordisk.
