The job
This role will serve as a key point of contact for the Portfolio Valuation function and play a critical role in ensuring that Novo Nordisk maintains industry-leading asset and portfolio valuation capabilities. The position will involve working on both a traditional Portfolio Valuation role and a cross-functional “Valuation Anchor” role. As Lead/Associate Director you will engage with a wide variety of stakeholders, including senior management. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence and shape the future of Novo Nordisk’s pipeline value.
The cross-functional Valuation Anchor responsibilities include:
- Leading the process for the recurring portfolio value assessment (through financial valuations) of the late-stage pipeline by coordinating work and deliverables across therapy areas as needed.
- Initiating and facilitating improvement projects across commercial therapy areas - focusing on valuations frameworks, methodologies, and deliverables for assessing pipeline assets.
- Training colleagues and key stakeholders in making financial valuations and use of commercial frameworks.
- Owning the valuation methodology and ensuring transparency and alignment with the relevant departments (e.g. business development, strategic finance, new product planning, commercial projects)
- Implementing and maintaining the valuation methodology in a cross-organizational portfolio-management IT system, by collaborating with external vendors and internal departments.
Beyond the cross-functional responsibilities, you will spend time on traditional asset/portfolio valuation projects, to ensure continuous experience with practical use of the tools on actual development projects. The Portfolio Valuation responsibilities include:
- Being responsible for assessing the value (NPV and eNPV) of assets and evidence generation activities on the portfolio.
- Participating in portfolio assessments and development of commercial guidance to research, as well as contributing to the recurring portfolio value assessments of the late-stage development portfolio.
On a daily basis, you will work in a global context but interact primarily with headquarter functions across a diverse network of internal colleagues from Research & Development, Commercial, Market Access & Pricing, Strategic Finance, Regulatory, Medical, and Product Supply. You will report to the Director of Portfolio Valuations.
Qualifications
Ideally, you have the following qualifications:
- A master’s degree in Economics / Finance / Business / Natural sciences or other relevant subjects.
- At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, (and preferably) with a background in both commercial and clinical/science roles (or roles that intersect the two areas).
- Experience in an asset valuation focused function and/or with management/strategy consulting is crucial.
- Excellent project management/stakeholder management skills, strong influencing skills as well as verbal/written communication capabilities
- Hands-on experience with financial valuations in the pharmaceutical industry, a proven track record of designing and scoping valuations and supporting business cases
- High proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel as well as fluency in written and spoken English
At Novo Nordisk, your skills, dedication, and ambition help us change lives for the better. In exchange, we offer you an opportunity to work with extraordinary talent and benefit from a range of possibilities for professional and personal development. Physical presence is required in our offices in Copenhagen (Søborg), Denmark- only candidates who are willing to relocate to the Copenhagen Area will be considered. You can expect some limited travel days per year.
About the function and the department
