Market Access Director - Rare Disease, Pipeline

This is an unordinary and exciting opportunity to shape the global market access strategy for Novo Nordisk’s future rare disease portfolio from the earliest stages of development. As Value Strategy and Payer Engagement (VSPE) Director, you’ll influence key portfolio decisions, bridge science and strategy, and help bring breakthrough therapies to patients with some of the world’s rarest conditions — making a tangible impact on both innovation and patient access worldwide.
Your new role
As the Value Strategy and Payer Engagement (VSPE) Director for Early Pipeline and BD, you will spearhead and drive the initial market access strategy for key early pipeline assets in the RareD portfolio and external business development opportunities within the RareD portfolio. This includes:
- Defining the early payer value & the pricing and reimbursement (P&R) opportunity portfolio
- Contributing the market access perspective into the evidence strategy and trial design,
- Providing direction to development, commercial and portfolio assessments to enable key project decisions.
- Executing and refining the future Health Technology Assessment (HTA) strategy for key launch assets
- Engaging with regions and affiliates to drive best-in-class product launches
- Driving the horizon scanning of payer policies likely to impact on our P&R effort.
The position requires someone who can bring innovation and breakthrough thinking to our team. Increasingly, the requirements that it takes to get access are more complicated. In the role you will engage proactively with the broader market access network of stakeholders in both in Global and Operations to assess and provide payer landscape analysis and value drivers and early access strategies to support the commercial attractiveness of the coming portfolio.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Market access point of contact and voice for pipeline and business development assets, ensuring clear communication and implementation of market access requirements into key project decisions
- Act as strategic lead of pipeline and business development asset evaluation and planning, including understanding the unmet needs and size of the opportunity, value drivers, as well as policy, pricing, contracting and reimbursement landscape.
- Initiating early strategic thinking on HTA & reimbursement strategy, and map requirements and market access barriers across key markets.
- Proactively identify payer environment trends and their implications for access strategies within the RareD space.
- Drive payer insight generation for select early assets with strong commercial potential.
Your new Department
The Global RareD (Rare Diseases) Pipeline Market Access team sets the payer-facing direction for Novo Nordisk’s future drug portfolio across multiple Therapy Areas including Rare Bleeding Disorders, Rare Endocrine Disorders, Rare Renal Disorders, and Haemoglobinopathies. As such, the team provides strategic input to the payer value strategy and payer requirements for our pipeline products. Your skills and qualifications
We expect you to have:
- A relevant academic degree.
- +5 years of comprehensive market access experience, both from strategic and operational market access roles.
- Extensive experience working directly with value strategy, communication, Health Technology Assessment (HTA), reimbursement, pricing and Health Economics, within the pharmaceutical industry and/or a consultancy company.
- High degree of business and industry insight, and you have solid experience with setting the direction and the strategy of therapeutic areas.
- Full proficiency in English
As a person you have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, strong development and commercial understanding and a high degree of ambition, personal drive and ability to work independently. It comes natural for you to identify new and innovative approaches when driving projects and deliverables related to our assets. Finally, you have a master's degree and are fluent in English.
