International Medical Vice President, Obesity

We are seeking an International Medical Vice President (IMVP) who will provide expert guidance on all aspects of clinical and scientific drug development within Obesity area. This is a pivotal role in securing Novo Nordisk's leadership position within Obesity and enabling further advancements of our differentiated portfolio of Obesity treatments. The role offers an exciting opportunity to join an industry-leading team of ambitious and highly dedicated medical and drug development experts.
The preferred location for this role is Denmark, Greater Copenhagen area. Other European or US locations could be considered, in which case frequent travel and alignment with CET work hours will be required.
The role
Reporting to the Vice President for Medical & Science, Obesity the IMVP is a central role that collaborates with various stakeholders across the organisation in a complex matrix setting. As a key opinion leader on Obesity, the IMVP represents Novo Nordisk at industry events, government working groups and in interactions with authorities.
The key responsibilities of International Medical Vice President, include:
- Driving medical and clinical aspects of the Obesity therapy area strategy within Novo Nordisk, ensuring state-of-the-art clinical development, implementation, and operationalizability.
- Providing projects in clinical drug development with medical expertise within Obesity including insights into current and new diagnostics, biomarkers, treatment modalities, translational medicine, and digital health solutions. This also includes supporting your Medical & Science colleagues with development of reports and protocols through offering valuable therapy area input.
- Support internal medical expert groups in securing scientifically sound medical deliverables and ensuring cross-project and cross-functional input, alignment, and implementation.
- Ensuring exploration, knowledge sharing, and alignment of medical and scientific topics across all the therapy areas within Novo Nordisk
- Driving innovation and raising the innovation bar for the new and existing treatments
- Representing Novo Nordisk Clinical Development with Health authorities, academia, industry collaborative meetings and private-public partnerships.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a medical and scientific leader with the following qualifications and skills:
- MD degree, PhD, and a Board-certified specialist with an extensive clinical and medical background within Obesity.
- Proven clinical experience coupled with involvement in clinical trials (own research or as principal investigator) as well as basic research understanding and solid drug development knowledge.
- Several years’ experience in academia. Experience with pharma, biotech or recognised KOL will be an advantage.
- A team player with a strong focus on collaboration and supporting the common goal
- Ability to navigate a complex matrix setting in a global pharma company and manage wide range of diverse external stakeholder interactions.
- A proactive, innovative, and solution-oriented mindset and ability to drive innovation and change.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills coupled with ability to make yourself understood by different audiences.
The Department:
Medical & Science, Obesity is a high impact area in Novo Nordisk. The area is anchored in Clinical Development & Project Leadership organisation and provides medical and scientific leadership for obesity, overseeing strategy development, project execution, and reporting for drug and device development. The department responsibility includes preparing and executing clinical trials, offering medical expertise to various functional areas, and representing Novo Nordisk in multiple forums. Medical & Science Obesity ensures the delivery of high-quality medical content for clinical documents, supports regulatory approval processes, and develops expert reports and clinical evaluations. The goal of the area is to develop a differentiated portfolio of medications and complementary therapeutic solutions for patients living with obesity.
