Global Medical Director MASH

Category:  Medical Affairs
Location:

Søborg, Capital Region of Denmark, DK

Shape the global medical strategy for MASH which is a therapy area where science, ambition and patient need meet. This is your chance to lead medical thinking on one of the most exciting frontiers in chronic disease care, and to see your scientific leadership translate into real outcomes for patients worldwide.

Your new role
As Global Medical Director for MASH, you will be the Global Medical Affairs (GMA) Subject Matter Expert for assigned projects and compounds, setting medical direction, driving evidence strategy and representing GMA in Global Project Teams. You will operate independently on high-complexity tasks, partner closely with global Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and shape how the world understands and treats MASH.

Day-to-day your tasks will include:

  • Acting as global medical lead and SME on assigned MASH projects/compounds, representing GMA in Global Project Teams (GPT) and ensuring cross-functional alignment from Research & Early Development through Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory and Safety
  • Driving the GMA evidence strategy, leading external-oriented medical input to trial design, protocol development and investigator selection, and transforming clinical trial data into actionable medical strategy
  • Owning global KOL engagement for assigned projects – maintaining scientific relationships, gathering insights and integrating feedback into internal strategy and communication plans
  • Leading project and key trial communication strategy, including development of key medical messages, publication strategy (with the Global Publication Team) and medical education strategy
  • Providing medical input to regulatory documents and overseeing review and approval of medical, scientific and commercial content for accuracy, consistency and compliance
  • Acting as proxy for the Director/Senior Director in higher-level decision fora and ensuring committed costs for compound-specific activities are realised across budget cycles
  • Mentoring and coaching less-experienced colleagues, supporting onboarding of new joiners and role-modelling patient-centricity, scientific excellence and the Novo Nordisk Way

Approximately 20% global travel is expected, to congresses, program events and affiliate meetings.

Your new department
In Product & Portfolio Strategy we drive commercial strategy, medical affairs and business development across all therapy areas. We act as a connector and compass, guiding the new Novo Nordisk portfolio for sustained competitiveness upstream, and maximising portfolio potential through successful commercial strategies and competitive launches downstream.

Within Global Medical Affairs, you will join the team driving our MASH ambition – a fast-moving, high-impact therapy area where there is a profound unmet patient need. Working alongside experienced medical, scientific and commercial colleagues, you will set the medical direction for the asset and ensure global–regional–local alignment that delivers measurable impact for patients living with MASH.

Your skills & qualifications
We are looking for an experienced medical leader who thrives in a fast-paced, matrixed global environment and who is energised by translating cutting-edge science into strategy. You will bring with you:

  • An M.D. or MSc in health sciences (PhD and/or medical specialisation relevant to MASH/hepatology, metabolic or cardiometabolic disease is an advantage)
  • Extensive pharmaceutical and/or medical affairs experience, with substantial exposure to the strategic and scientific planning of clinical trials and clinical development; Global Medical Affairs and/or GPT experience is a strong advantage
  • A proven track record of driving strategic GMA projects cross-functionally and navigating complex global pharmaceutical organisations to keep stakeholders aligned and on time
  • Strong matrix and informal leadership skills, with the ability to set medical direction, make accountable decisions and represent GMA credibly with senior internal stakeholders and global KOLs
  • Enterprise thinking and a strategic mindset, paired with excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • A good network with therapy-area relevant global KOLs and clinical or scientific expertise in MASH or an adjacent area is considered a strong advantage
