Global Medical Director, Diabetes

Your new role:

As Global Medical Director in Diabetes, you will serve as Global Medical Affairs (GMA) Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned amylin-based projects or compounds for diabetes treatment. You will provide medical leadership, being responsible for overall GMA deliverables, and cross‑functional alignment to achieve the project(s) objectives. You will operate independently on high‑complexity tasks and set medical direction. 

Day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Ensure effective cross-functional collaboration and consistent communication with internal stakeholders within GMA and from other functions (Research and Early Development, Clinical Development and Project Leadership, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory and Safety, Regions & Affiliates). 
  • Be the global SME and lead on one or more specific products/projects towards internal/external stakeholders. This also involves being the GMA representative in relevant Global Project Team(s). 
  • Supports the Director/Senior Director in the successful development, optimization, and execution of medical strategies in the assigned therapy area/product, to achieve goals. 
  • Supports the Director/Senior Director in distributing tasks within assigned projects to relevant team members and coaching team members on the job.
  • Drive and align medical strategies with the cross-functional strategies together with the Executive Director/Senior Director for the area of responsibility.

 

Subject Matter Expertise  

  • Leads the establishment of external-oriented medical input to trial design, protocol development, and investigator selection in NN clinical trials.
  • Drives the GMA evidence strategy.
  • Leads on project and key trial communication strategies including key medical message development as relevant.
  • Provides medical input to regulatory documents for products/projects.
  • Oversees development, review, and approval of medical and scientific content to ensure accuracy, consistency, compliance, and alignment with therapeutic area and portfolio strategies. 
  • Leads the development of medical education strategy for each product/project and therapy area  
  • Lead and support external scientific engagement activities, including advisory boards, congress activities, and educational initiatives, ensuring actionable insight generation and compliant execution. 
  • Responsible for medical readiness in the Launch Activity Plan framework.

Within Global Medical Affairs, you will join the team driving our diabetes ambition – a fast-moving, high-impact therapy area where there is a profound unmet medical need. Working alongside experienced medical, scientific and commercial colleagues, you will set the medical direction for the asset(s) and ensure global–regional–local alignment that delivers measurable impact for people living with diabetes.

 

Your skills & qualifications

We are looking for an experienced medical leader who thrives in a fast-paced, matrixed global environment and who is energised by translating cutting-edge science into strategy and medical communication. You will bring with you:

  • An M.D. or MSc in health sciences (PhD and/or medical specialisation relevant to diabetes)
  • Extensive pharmaceutical and medical affairs experience, with substantial exposure to global strategic planning and launch experience. Previous exprience in diabetes or related area is required, while understanding of amylin’s role in diabetes treatment is an advantage. 
  • A proven track record of driving strategic Global Medical Affairs projects cross-functionally and navigating complex global pharmaceutical organisations to keep stakeholders aligned and on time.
  • Strong matrix and informal leadership skills and experience, with the ability to set medical direction, make accountable decisions and represent GMA credibly with senior internal stakeholders and global Key Opinion Leaders.
  • Enterprise thinking and a strategic mindset, paired with excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach

  • Salary:  For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 1,034,800 to 1,593,600 DKK corresponding to the level of the position. The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge, and relevant experience.
  • Incentives and Benefits: The salary package may include short-term and/or long-term incentives as well as other employee benefits based on position level, location, functional area and relevant market benchmarks.
