Global Director, Medical Association Partnerships & KOL Engagement
Søborg, Capital Region of Denmark, DK
Your impact begins here
As Global Director of Medical Association Partnerships & KOL Engagement, you will set the global strategy for how Novo partners with medical associations and engages leading scientific experts. You will build the frameworks, governance and standards that turn external relationships into real scientific collaboration — strengthening our credibility and accelerating progress for people living with serious chronic diseases. Your leadership will directly shape the reach and quality of our external scientific engagement worldwide.
What you'll bring
- Advanced degree in medicine, pharmacy, life sciences, public health or a relevant discipline — or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years in Medical Affairs, external scientific engagement, professional society partnerships or a related pharmaceutical field.
- Proven ability to develop and implement global stakeholder or partnership strategies in a complex matrix organisation.
- Track record of engaging senior external experts and medical associations with scientific credibility and high ethical standards.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives, governance, budgets and organisational change across regions.
- People leadership experience — coaching, capability building and creating an inclusive, high-performing team culture.
- Practical understanding of pharmaceutical compliance for interactions with healthcare professionals and organisations.
Useful, but not essential:
- Experience with AI-enabled or digital approaches to stakeholder mapping, insight synthesis or engagement coordination.
- Multi-therapy-area experience within a global medical affairs function.
What you'll do
You will own the global strategy and operating model for medical association partnerships and KOL engagement across therapy areas.
- Set the strategy for partnerships with medical associations and professional societies — including selection criteria, prioritisation and multi-year planning.
- Build the global framework for compliant, insight-led KOL engagement: identification, segmentation, prioritisation and coordinated relationship ownership across global, regional and affiliate levels.
- Establish governance, decision forums and ways of working that clarify ownership, funding, approvals and accountabilities.
- Define meaningful measures of quality, strategic impact and organisational learning — and give leadership clear visibility on risks, outcomes and recommendations.
- Drive continuous improvement using data, digital platforms and responsible AI to sharpen stakeholder insight, coordination and evaluation.
Who you'll work with
You will lead the MAP & KOL Engagement team within Strategic Scientific Communication, part of Global Medical Affairs. In Product & Portfolio Strategy, colleagues connect commercial strategy, medical affairs and business development across therapy areas, guiding the Novo portfolio for sustained competitiveness.
Internally, you will partner closely with Global Medical Affairs leadership, therapeutic area medical teams, publications, congress and medical education colleagues, as well as regional and affiliate medical teams, Clinical Development, Real-World Evidence, Market Access, Commercial, Legal, Compliance and Finance. Externally, you will engage medical association leadership, Key Opinion Leaders, scientific experts and relevant agencies. The role requires influence across a complex global matrix.
What you can expect here
This is a senior strategic role with the mandate to shape how Novo builds its most important scientific relationships globally. You will set direction, make decisions and follow through — leading a team where coaching, accountability and honest feedback are the norm. The work offers the chance to build new frameworks, drive organisational change and contribute to broader Global Medical Affairs priorities in an environment that values diverse perspectives and a shared focus on real progress.
