Global Associate Portfolio Director – driving early asset and portfolio assessments

Novo Nordisk is expanding into new therapeutic areas with exciting opportunities. We are now looking for a highly qualified individual to join our team of experienced business professionals working with commercial assessments of our portfolio of projects within cardiovascular disease and other serious chronic diseases.

About the department
Commercial Planning CVD & OSCD is part of Commercial Planning within Commercial Business Development. Through our work with drug discovery projects in Research and Early Development and Global Projects Teams in Clinical Drug Development, we set the commercial direction for Novo Nordisk’s future drug portfolio. In CP CVD & OSCD, you will be joining 11 experienced business professionals like yourself. The position
Your key tasks will be to ensure high quality commercial assessments for our portfolio of assets within cardiovascular disease and to coordinate the team of highly skilled professionals working with New Product Planning in the department. As part of this, you will develop clear commercial recommendations to R&D on which drug candidates to prioritise to ensure fulfilment of our strategy within cardiovascular disease. 


You will work within a project team of a drug candidate to develop the target product profile, collecting primary and secondary data on market conditions and shape the data into actionable recommendations. You will be coordinating the commercial input for the Product Development Plan, you will be creating financial valuations of assets as they prepare to enter Phase 2 clinical development and you will work with the team to deliver the annual value assessment of the development portfolio. On top of this, you will be working on a variety of ad hoc commercial assessments that provide senior management with insights on long-term trends in our key markets. On a daily basis, you will work with a diverse network of internal colleagues from Research & Development, Commercial Strategy, Global Evidence & Patient Access, Strategic Finance and Product Supply. You will work in a global context but interact primarily with headquarter functions. You will report to the Vice President of Commercial Planning CVD & OSCD.


You should expect up to 20 travel days per year.


The ideal candidate has either a master’s degree in business or economics, or a scientific master’s degree with the addition of a business degree, as well as more than 5 years of experience in commercial and scientific functions in the pharmaceutical industry. Experience from working with therapies within cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, neurology, eye diseases or cell therapies / curative therapies, will be an advantage. Brand team experience is also an advantage, as is experience from working in other key parts of the drug development value chain. It is critical that you possess strong financial and analytical skills and that you have a proven ability to translate analysis into insights and recommendations. 


On the personal side, we expect you to have excellent interpersonal skills, as this position requires you to work across multiple stakeholders in the company. You have a strong track record of delivering in high quality and finding new ways of achieving goals. You are pro-active and innovative and inspire ways of working smarter and taking team performance to a higher level. You have demonstrated the ability to work individually as well as part of a team on multiple projects in parallel. Strong communication skills as well as excellent written and spoken English skills are prerequisites for the position.
