The position
As Director, Medical, GMA MASH, you will play a pivotal role in driving therapy area development activities and ensuring the proper understanding and usage of Novo Nordisk products.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Generating, interpreting, and communicating scientific data to support the clinical importance of new findings and their impact on diabetes treatment.
- Delivering timely, accurate, and credible scientific medical guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Managing cross-organisational collaboration with R&D, MMA, GS, affiliates, and other key teams.
- Developing and implementing global medical affairs strategies, including publication and communication strategies.
- Leading and coaching a team of Global Medical Managers and Associate Directors, Publication and Project Managers, fostering a culture of continuous development.
- Overseeing clinical activities, including trial design, protocol development, and evaluation of clinical trial proposals.
- Engaging with global Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to build and execute healthcare professional strategies and scientific communication.
- Driving strategic publication planning and ensuring high-quality, timely publication of key data milestones.
- Leading global medical education initiatives to ensure recognition and understanding of clinical profiles.
- Providing internal medical guidance to align business activities with medical strategies and newly generated scientific data.
Qualifications
We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated individual with the following qualifications:
- Medical Doctor (MD); PhD and/or specialist degree preferred.
- Strong clinical and/or research background in diabetes mellitus, with a demonstrated interest in advanced scientific analysis, communication and drug development.
- At least 10 years’ relevant experience in clinical practice and/or the pharmaceutical industry, including clinical research and development.
- Additional education or experience in pharmaceutical business, medical affairs or marketing is an advantage.
- Proven ability to work in international and cross‑functional settings; experience in an international matrix organization is preferred.
- Three or more years of study or work experience in a country or affiliate other than your native country is desirable.
- Excellent presentation, networking and communication skills; fluent in spoken and written English.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills with a willingness to coach and develop colleagues; ability to achieve results through others.
- Able to manage complex tasks and organisational issues while influencing industry from a medical perspective.
We are looking for a highly motivated, extroverted Medical Director with a results-driven, strategic mindset. The ideal candidate adapts quickly to changing priorities, collaborates effectively with diverse scientific, business and cultural teams, and has proven managerial experience including team leadership and people development. Excellent verbal and written communication, initiative, a flexible attitude, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage complex tasks are essential. Comfort influencing senior stakeholders and working in an international, matrixed environment is required.
About the department
Obesity and MASH is the TA team responsible for driving the medical affairs agenda and input to these two important therapy areas. We are app. 35 colleagues across five teams with projects from early phase to launched products. We represent the medical voice both upstream to help guide new clinical trial programmes and downstream to support therapies already available or close to launch to ensure the best clinical use and improved outcomes for patients.
The GMA MASH team is responsible for activities with semaglutide in MASH and pipeline projects such as efruxifermin. This requires a large degree of collaboration with cross-functional teams and affiliates and an innovative approach to new areas.
