Do you want to drive a high‑impact area at the heart of clinical development? We are looking for a senior leader to head Process, AI & Digital (PAID), shaping how robust processes and practical AI solutions enable scientific excellence across late‑stage R&D.

Your new role

As Director, you will lead a newly merged organisation operating at the intersection of process governance, AI/digital enablement and clinical development operations. You will lead a consolidated, high impact function delivering Medical & Translational Science (M&TS) wide outcomes across three pillars:

1. Accelerate scientific and translational innovation and data generation through advanced digital and AI capabilities.

2. Ensure M&TS process ownership, generation, optimisation and implementation.

3. Drive digital and scientific capability building across area and skill types.

Moreover, your responsibilities include:

  • Lead a highly experienced team, and build a strong, cohesive culture.
  • Set clear direction and priorities for a newly merged area, translating an abstract mandate into concrete deliverables, KPIs and a shared leadership narrative across M&TS.
  • Own and govern core M&TS processes and SOPs, particularly within Clinical Development, ensuring regulatory robustness while continuously improving efficiency and usability.
  • Act as M&TS’ anchor for AI and digital implementation, working closely with stakeholders to translate AI solutions into real, regulated workflows that deliver tangible value.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders across development, medical, scientific and data-heavy functions, leading through credibility in a complex global matrix organisation.

Your new department

In Medical & Translational Science (M&TS) we turn science into patient-centered solutions.

Aligned with Novo Nordisk’s purpose to defeat serious chronic diseases, M&TS delivers clinical development plans and generates evidence to achieve three outcomes:

  • Generate hypotheses across early research, experimental medicine and late‑stage development
  • Secure regulatory approvals for clinically needed and commercially attractive products
  • Design lifecycle management strategies and analyses to maximise long‑term value of in-market products

All leading to products for the benefit of the people we serve.

We support assets from early discoveries through market withdrawal, and we are partnering across the value chain to combine scientific insight with operational excellence and ensure our data drives decisions that benefit patients.

Your skills and qualifications

To succeed in this role, you bring strong scientific credibility, leadership maturity and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguity. We expect you to have:

  • PhD, MD or MSc degree in a relevant field such as Life Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or similar.
  • Supplementary business-related education preferred.
  • 10+ years relevant pharma industry experience; track record delivering business results with SVP/EVParea impact through innovation and change.
  • Strong matrix leadership experience, complex stakeholder navigation, and enterprise-level strategy execution.
  • Documented ability to lead and develop highperforming teams; strong crossfunctional teamwork; ability to improve current performance and future potential of others via coaching and development opportunities.
  • Understanding of R&D value chain and operating under quality requirements (e.g., GxP/ISO principles as applicable to deliverables and controlled documentation).
  • A proven ability to combine process discipline with innovation, particularly in translating AI and digital ambition into practical, adopted solutions.
  • Strong communication, integration and change leadership skills, with the curiosity and pragmatism needed to lead in a newly defined area.
