As the leader and architect of Science, Policy & Intelligence (SP&I) within Regulatory, Quality & Clinical Reporting (RQ&C), you will transform intelligence into influence—embedding evidence, policy and external engagement into decision-making across RQ&C and the enterprise.

 

The position

The Associate Vice President will pioneer how Novo Nordisk converts regulatory intelligence into competitive advantage and faster patient access. Reporting to the SVP of RQ&C and serving on the RQ&C Leadership Team, you will set the vision for a future-ready SP&I organization, leading senior experts across policy, intelligence, advocacy and business development. You will build the processes, tools and partnerships that anticipate global trends, turn complexity into clarity, and deliver timely, actionable insights to shape project, portfolio and external engagement strategies. A proven thought leader, you blend deep regulatory policy expertise with strong pharma business acumen, inspire crossorganisational teams, communicate with influence, and rolemodel the Novo Nordisk Way.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Set the vision and strategy for SP&I in RQ&C—aligning intelligence, policy and science to business priorities and delivering measurable, actionable value across the portfolio
  • Build and lead a high-performing, “leaders-of-leaders” organisation—growing senior specialist capability, optimizing resources across subfunctions, and driving outcomes at an enterprise scale
  • Hardwire intelligence into decisions—embed regulatory science and therapeutic-area insights through robust processes and by scouting, evaluating and adopting best-in-class external AI/ML solutions, ensuring the organisation remains at the technological forefront to derisk projects, accelerate submissions and secure approvals
  • Shape the external agenda—define and execute Novo Nordisk’s regulatory engagement strategy, cultivating trusted relationships with global regulators and industry bodies to influence standards and access
  • Govern for impact—ensure future-ready operating models and compliance and convene a panel of senior internal and external experts to provide timely, strategic guidance to projects and leadership

 

Experience

  • Advanced scientific degree (PhD or PharmD preferred)
  • Strategic regulatory leadership: Bring 15+ years at the forefront of global regulatory affairs and drug development—leveraging your PhD/PharmD to shape strategy from early science to approval and access
  • Transformational leader: Pioneer novel ways of working; Strong leadership skills to pioneer and lead others toward change and setting directions
  • R&D and Business Development expert: 15+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical regulatory and R&D organisation combining with solid experience within R&D business development and external competitive intelligence and policy development
  • Global portfolio strategist: Strong experience in regulatory decision making, science, innovation, and portfolio and/or project management and policy background, with a global footprint
  • Lead at enterprise scale: apply deep experience across R&D, business development, competitive intelligence and policy to influence portfolio bets and external engagement worldwide
  • Be the catalyst for change: architect sustainable process transformations across a complex, matrixed organisation—aligning diverse stakeholders and delivering measurable outcomes
  • Thrive on a global stage: navigate international political and regulatory landscapes with fluency in English (additional languages a plus) and a strong track record of cross-cultural collaboration in an international environment

 

Location & travel

The position is based in Søborg, Denmark, and travel outside Denmark will be required as part of collaboration with regions, affiliates and external stakeholders.
