Associate Global Portfolio Director

Category:  Marketing and Market Access

Søborg, Capital Region of Denmark, DK

Novo Nordisk is expanding into new therapeutic areas with exciting opportunities. We are now looking for a highly qualified person to join our team of experienced business professionals working with commercial assessments of our portfolio of projects within Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) and Obesity.

If you’re ready to make an impact by shaping the early-stage R&D pipeline and developing the portfolio analyses needed to inform decisions at senior management level and if you have a combined business and science background and a proven track record for assessing business opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry, then you may be the candidate we are looking for as our new Associate Global Portfolio Director.

The position
Your key tasks will be to work within the project team of a drug candidate to develop the target product profile, collecting primary and secondary data on market conditions and shape the data into actionable recommendations. You will coordinate the commercial input for the Product Development Plan and create financial valuations of assets as they prepare to enter Phase 2 clinical development.

You will be responsible for providing commercial guidance to our R&D organisation, setting the bar for what success looks like in the future.

You will work with the broad New Product Planning team (NPP) to deliver the annual value assessment of the development portfolio and be responsible for the commercial optimisation of sub-portfolio strategies. On top of this, you will be working on a variety of ad hoc commercial assessments that provide senior management with insights on long-term trends in our key markets.

In short, this is a great opportunity to make an impact on a truly global scale.

On a daily basis, you will work with a diverse network of internal colleagues from Research & Development, Commercial Strategy, Global Evidence & Patient Access, Strategic Finance and Product Supply. You will work in a global context but interact primarily with headquarter functions. In the role you would have strategic therapy area responsibility, but no direct people leadership. You will report to the Director of Commercial Planning Obesity & Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH).

You should expect up to 10 travel days per year.

As the ideal candidate you have:

  • Master’s degree in business or economics, or a scientific master’s degree with the addition of a business degree.
  • 10 years of experience in commercial and scientific functions in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience from working with related therapy areas will be an advantage.
  • Brand team experience is a plus, as is experience from working in other key parts of the drug development value chain.
  • It is critical that you possess strong financial and analytical skills and that you have a proven ability to translate analysis into insights and recommendations – on project and portfolio level.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills

On the personal side, we expect you to have excellent interpersonal skills, as this position requires you to work across multiple stakeholders in the company. You have a track record of delivering high quality and finding new ways of achieving goals. You are pro-active and innovative and inspire ways of working smarter and taking team performance to a higher level. You have demonstrated the ability to work individually as well as part of a team on multiple projects in parallel.
