Your new role

As a (Senior) Clinical Project Lead, you will take on a senior role with extensive responsibilities, where you will assume accountability for the end-to-end planning, execution and completion of phase 1 clinical trials.

 

You will lead the global cross functional study teams driving the clinical trials successfully and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders. Furthermore, your main responsibilities will include:

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Leading end-to-end clinical trial delivery
    You will be accountable for the full lifecycle of Phase 1 trials — from early planning and protocol development through to execution and close-out — ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Driving global cross-functional collaboration
    You will lead and align diverse internal and external stakeholders across functions, acting as the central point of coordination to enable efficient decision-making and seamless trial execution.

  • Owning trial governance and decision forums
    As chair of the trial squad, you will facilitate structured discussions, proactively manage risks and dependencies, and ensure clarity on priorities, accountability, and progress.

  • Translating strategy into operational excellence
    You will bridge early clinical strategy with execution by converting high-level ambitions into clear, actionable plans that drive performance and measurable outcomes. 

  • Leading trial start-up and vendor oversight
    You will oversee critical start-up activities including protocol development, CTA submission, and vendor selection/management, ensuring strong foundations for successful trial delivery.

 

To succeed in the role, you need in-depth knowledge about clinical trial methodology as well as extensive clinical project management experience. Effective communication and leadership skills are essential, while impacting the project strategy as well as execution and improvement of core clinical processes within phase 1.

 

For a highly qualified candidate, this role may be positioned at Senior Clinical Project Lead level. The individual will be expected to lead the identification of efficiency opportunities across trials, driving process optimisation and advancing ways of working. This includes taking a broader, cross-functional view to strengthen Phase 1 development, challenging the status quo, and converting insights into tangible outcomes.

 

This role is based in Søborg, Denmark and will give you the chance to become part of a team driving ambitious early drug development programs.

 

Your skills and qualifications

 

You will be a great asset to our team because you have: 

  • A MSc in Natural Science and at least five years of relevant experience, or a BSc in Natural Science or equivalent with at least seven years of relevant experience. MSc in Natural Science with min. 6 years relevant experience or BSc in Natural Science or equivalent and combined with min. 8 years relevant experience for a Senior Clinical Project Lead role
  • Strong clinical project management experience and the ability to impact the execution and improvement of core clinical processes.
  • Extensive experience in all operational aspects of planning, conducting and finalization of clinical trials
  • Demonstrate strong project management expertise and strong communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority, lead through collaboration, and drive alignment and engagement across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Professional proficiency in English. Documented strategic impact and broad value chain understanding for a Senior Clinical Project Lead role

Salary:
For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 742,600 to 1,245,100 DKK (DK), corresponding to the level of the position.
The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge, and relevant experience.

You will be part of the Global Trial Portfolio (GTP) area driving operational excellence and innovation in the execution of our clinical trial portfolio across all clinical development phases and therapy areas within the Novo Nordisk pipeline. Taking offset in a position of strength, we have a clear ambition of being industry leading across all operational aspects of our clinical trial portfolio by focusing on timely, cost-efficient, best-in-class clinical trial planning and execution in collaboration with our many internal and external stakeholders.

 

Your new role is based in our Diabetes, Phase 1 and Device project area, where you will be part of a team dedicated to working with phase 1 clinical activities across all therapeutic areas in Novo Nordisk portfolio.
