About the Department

The Cardiometabolic Marketing Team leads the US marketing efforts for Novo Nordisk’s robust cardiometabolic product portfolio, which includes world class therapies for the treatment of diabetes, obesity, and the reduction of adverse cardiovascular events. As part of the team, you will have frontline exposure to our portfolio vision, business strategies, and critical market insights that drive our business forward. You will help to drive the NNI portfolio strategy to ensure the latest therapies and products reach the people who need them most.

 

The Position

The primary responsibility of this position is to support Cardiometabolic consumer market development and commercial partnerships within the Marketing Department. This position is accountable for leading the development and implementation of marketing plans for the cardiometabolic therapeutic areas (diabetes, obesity, CV) which may include marketing activities (positioning, messaging, creative etc.), planning, execution of strategy, and delivery of key projects with external partners. Responsible for project management, defining shared value, and leveraging insights to drive decision making with a broad number of internal and external stakeholders. Participates on cross-functional and global teams to foster collaboration and interacts extensively with other functions within Novo Nordisk.

 

Relationships

Reports to a Lead/Director in Marketing. Works closely with many cross-functional stakeholders including: Consumer Marketing, Cardiometabolic Marketing, Communications, Public Affairs, Market Access, Commercial Operations and Finance. Works in collaboration with other departments such as Medical, Regulatory, Compliance, Insight & Analytics and Legal personnel as well as participating on global teams where applicable. External relationships include relations with potential and existing partners, professional services vendors such as agencies, consultants, etc.

 

Essential Functions

 

MARKET DEVELOPMENT & COMMERCIAL PARTNERSHIPS:

  • Coordinate execution of market development plans in alignment with strategy
  • Coordinate with key marketing department functions and support
  • Lead execution of partnership pilots and commercial rollouts
  • Evaluate partnership opportunities and determine shared value for achieving NNI ambition
  • Work directly with global counterparts to coordinate market development efforts and mutual opportunities
  • Participate in strategic market development discussions and evaluation of partnerships
  • Optimize spend and ensure quality of services delivered by agencies
  • Accountable for key metrics, tracking and timelines/deliverables
  • Regularly reviews program progress to ensure goal are on track
  • Identifies tactical gaps and works diligently to address them
  • Ensures timely execution and follow up to meet deadlines, and prioritizes projects
  • Develop and maintain strong relationship with stakeholders
  • Participates in teams and works cross functionally to integrate plans and ensure strategic alignment
  • Provide updates on market development progress to the marketing leadership team
  • Represent the organization to external partners and organizations

 

DISEASE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN PROMOTION:

  • Develop consumer focused initiatives to drive unbranded disease awareness efforts across the portfolio
  • Develops and implements marketing plan and promotional materials
  • Effectively understands competitive landscape through the course of the year to ensure campaign success
  • Refines messages based on consumer insights and market research to drive performance
  • Maximizes revenue and profitability and understands return on investment (ROI) concepts to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Works effectively with key support functions to ensure alignment with project objectives and goals
  • Manage approvals through Peer Review Committee of external promotional materials where applicable

 

FISCAL/INVESTMENT:

  • Ensures policies and procedures are adhered to appropriately
  • Accountable to the portfolio budget process
  • Ensures projects costs stays within the budget by regularly tracking and reconciling expenses
  • Evaluates project impact vs investment ROI
  • Manage contracting and scope of work for projects and with vendors
  • Partners with CI&A team to develop and oversee implementation of key metrics

 

Physical Requirements

20-30% overnight travel required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive sales and brand management/marketing experience within the pharmaceutical industry required of which two (2) years were in a Senior Brand Manager role or equivalent.
  • A Bachelors’ degree or equivalent required, MBA preferred.
  • Outstanding planning and organizational skills with exceptionally high attention to quality of detail and proven track record of results and follow up.
  • Proven track record in new product marketing preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical marketplace including medical, regulatory and clinical processes, preferably within diabetes.
  • Successful launch experience in a marketing role preferred.
