The Position

The Sustainability Data Analyst will support the sustainability and ESG efforts inside Novo Nordisk, Inc., as directed by the Director, US Corporate Sustainability. Primary responsibilities include compilation, management, analyses, and preparation of data for: sustainability, greenhouse gas, and ESG improvements; dashboards; and reporting; and research to support improvement opportunities. This position will be an integral part of the continued development, implementation and monitoring of internal Quality Assurance and data management programs and, as such, will be required to work cross-functionally within Novo Nordisk, Inc.

 

Relationships

Reports to Director – US Corporate Sustainability. Internally, this role works in collaboration across the organization to ensure consistency and alignment on the strategies, goals, messaging, metrics, and reporting as it pertains to the environmental sustainability agenda. Strong collaboration with the business functions on goals, strategic projects and initiatives, metrics, and data is essential. External Relationships include engaging with consultants, suppliers, and, occasionally, Novo Nordisk A/S and affiliates on initiatives for data collection, improvement, reporting, visualization - including dashboards, and analysis. Works cross functionally to manage assigned sustainability initiatives. Works with IT, Finance, Risk Management, and Legal, as needed, to support a compliant relationship and activities.

 

Essential Functions

  • Implementing processes, controls, systems, and dashboards to measure progress for consistent and accurate reporting that is aligned with stakeholder expectations
  • Gathering, processing, and managing data updates across multiple systems (Data could include: GHGs, energy. waste, water, inclusion and diversity, supply chain, etc.)
  • Tracking down data gaps, outliers, and other discrepancies during data collection processes, and reconciling data across sources
  • Documenting data processes to support external assurance activities and information requests
  • Creating processes to ensure the integrity, timeliness, and completeness of the assigned reporting
  • Working with the reporting team to develop and perform sustainability surveys
  • Analyzing data to: detect, monitor, and predict risk; analyze the wider impact of the Novo Nordisk Inc. activities, products, and services on the environment and society; and monitor and measure KPIs
  • Developing assessments of ESG metrics to determine areas of potential concern and/or opportunity
  • Tracking performance of identified programs over time
  • Assisting in the development of written policies and procedures associated with Novo Nordisk’s data management and sustainability program
  • Thinking creatively to transform sometimes technical content into easy-to-understand material (e.g., graphs. tables, summaries, presentations, website content, reports, etc.)
  • Performing research on novel and new areas to support solutions identification
  • Anticipate potential problems or pitfalls and actively resolve
  • Willing to challenge status quo and provide analysis to drive impact
  • Ability to project manage key initiatives, as assigned, including maintaining schedules, ensuring collaborative team interactions, and achieving a professional standard of quality for deliverables

 

Physical Requirements

0-10% overnight travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Environmental or Energy Management, Data Science, or a similarly technical and engineering-minded field.  An advanced degree in data science, analytics and/or visualization, advanced statistics, programming or similar field may substitute for the environmental sustainability analysis experience”.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in environmental sustainability and analysis
  • Sustainability or ESG program implementation or reporting experience preferred
  • Advanced skills with data analysis and visualization tools preferred (e.g., Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, Python, R, SQL)
  • Strong interest in sustainability
  • Outstanding analytical and quantitative skills
  • Experience in data collection, management, QA/QC, and analytics, working with various data sources and software tools to aggregate for reporting
  • Ability to effectively develop and maintain cross-functional relationships and responsibilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff
  • Proficient in team communication with the need to be concise and professional
  • Highly organized, flexible and innovative, self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to trouble-shoot problems and to escalate to manager, when appropriate

 

The base compensation range for this position is $125,000-$135,000. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.  
 
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
