The Position

Provides high level legal support for the contract management function. Includes drafting and first line negotiation of contracts. Independently identifies and suggests solutions to complex legal issues. Acts as the lead on process improvement initiatives and other key projects with regards to contract management.

 

Relationships

Reports to a Senior Attorney, Transactional. Interacts with all attorneys in the Legal Department. Also interacts with individuals in other NNI departments and affiliate companies as well as third party vendors.

 

Essential Functions

  • Review, draft and negotiate a variety of agreements such as nondisclosure agreements, master agreements, consulting agreements and Statement of Work (SOWs)
  • Review and update contract templates
  • Close interaction with cross-functional business teams to understand full scope of internal needs and vendor services
  • Ability to utilize fallback guide to complete initial review of redlined agreements
  • Complete high volumes of tasks and projects quickly with little guidance, react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround
  • Client-service oriented, have great attention to detail while still meeting tight deadlines, have great organization skills and have the ability to easily switch gears
  • A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information and professionalism in dealing with senior professionals inside and outside the company are essential

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree required; relevant experience may be substituted for degree where appropriate
  • Paralegal Certification preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years of paralegal experience or relevant contract administration experience required
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance on core tasks
  • At least 3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of the business and day-to-day operations
  • Excellent organizational, planning and follow-through skills
  • Must be a self-starter; flexible, customer-focused, and have a professional demeanor
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and patent docketing systems/databases (where applicable)
  • Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize required
