The Position

The Senior Systems Analyst – Veeva Vault CRM serves as a technical and functional subject matter expert for Veeva/Vault CRM and provides project leadership for Veeva Vault CRM and related commercial technology initiatives.  The primary focus of this position is the design, implementation, enhancement, integration, and ongoing support of Veeva/Vault CRM solutions. The role partners with business stakeholders, IT teams, architects, integration teams, and external vendors to translate business needs into scalable, compliant technology solutions.

 

In addition to deep Veeva/Vault CRM expertise, this position requires strong project management and delivery leadership. The individual will lead cross-functional initiatives from requirements and solution design through validation, implementation, deployment, and post-implementation support.  The successful candidate will also bring strong systems analysis capabilities, experience working in regulated environments, and knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including generative AI, with an understanding of opportunities and risks associated with applying AI within enterprise business processes.

 

Relationships

This position reports to Associate Director, Business Applications. This position interacts with all levels of Project Managers, Business Analysts, other Systems Analysts, Application Developers, Architects and System Engineers as needed. Interacts with other lines of business as needed.

 

Essential Functions

Veeva/Vault CRM Leadership & Expertise

  • Serves as a technical and functional subject matter expert for Veeva/Vault CRM.
  • Leads the analysis, solution design, configuration, implementation, integration, testing, enhancement, release, and ongoing support of Veeva/Vault CRM.
  • Partners with business stakeholders to understand commercial business processes and translate requirements into effective Veeva/Vault CRM solutions.
  • Evaluates business requirements against Veeva/Vault CRM capabilities and recommends appropriate configuration, integration, and solution approaches.
  • Provides expertise in Veeva/Vault CRM configuration, data, integrations, interfaces, security, workflows, and related application components.
  • Assesses Veeva/Vault CRM releases and new capabilities to determine business and technical impacts and opportunities.
  • Troubleshoots complex application, integration, data, and user issues and coordinates resolution with internal teams, Veeva, and external partners.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve platform usability, scalability, performance, supportability, and business value.

Project Management & Delivery Leadership

  • Leads complex Veeva/Vault CRM and related technology projects from initiation through implementation and post-implementation support.
  • Develops and manages project scope, objectives, plans, schedules, milestones, resources, dependencies, risks, issues, and deliverables.
  • Coordinates cross-functional teams consisting of business stakeholders, IT teams, architects, developers, integration and data teams, Quality/Compliance partners, and external vendors.
  • Establishes appropriate project governance, stakeholder communications, decision-making processes, and escalation paths.
  • Proactively identifies risks, issues, and dependencies and develops appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Drives accountability for project commitments, milestones, deliverables, and decisions across internal teams and external partners.
  • Provides clear project status and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Applies Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project management approaches as appropriate to the initiative.
  • Leads implementation readiness and post-implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery and continuous improvement.

Systems Analysis, Solution Design & Validation

  • Analyzes complex business and user requirements and determines appropriate solution approaches and scope.
  • Develops functional and technical specifications and applicable system lifecycle documentation, including URS, FRS, TDS, process and data flows, test cases, and traceability matrices.
  • Ensures solution designs align with business requirements, enterprise architecture, technology standards, and long-term supportability.
  • Develops and executes functional, integration, regression, and performance testing and coordinates User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Determines validation requirements and ensures appropriate testing and documentation are completed.
  • Participates in technology evaluations and buy-versus-build decisions when appropriate.
  • Provides technical and functional guidance to project teams and other application development and support resources.

Application Lifecycle, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Provides application ownership and support throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Facilitates change control and CAB activities and evaluates Requests for Change (RFCs), including scope, impact, effort, cost, and implementation considerations.
  • Ensures solutions comply with applicable company architecture, security, quality, technology, and regulatory requirements.
  • Applies risk management principles throughout the system lifecycle and proactively identifies technical, operational, compliance, and business risks.
  • Ensures appropriate controls and documentation are maintained for regulated computerized systems.
  • Develops and monitors relevant system performance KPIs and supports post-implementation reviews.

Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technologies

  • Demonstrates knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, including generative AI, and its potential application within enterprise technology and commercial business processes.
  • Identifies and evaluates opportunities to responsibly leverage AI to improve business processes, user productivity, automation, and decision-making.
  • Partners with business and technical stakeholders to assess AI use cases and their potential business value and feasibility.
  • Understands key considerations associated with responsible AI, including governance, data privacy, information security, compliance, validation, and risk management.
  • Maintains awareness of emerging AI technologies and evaluates their applicability to supported business processes and systems.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Management
  • Manages relationships and delivery expectations with Veeva and other external technology and implementation partners.
  • Monitors vendor performance against agreed deliverables, KPIs, SLAs, and contractual expectations.
  • Facilitates effective communication and decision-making among business stakeholders, technical teams, project teams, and vendors.
  • Builds strong cross-functional relationships and influences stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and technology decisions.

Physical Requirements

0-10% overnight travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field required. Relevant experience may be substituted when appropriate. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in IT, systems analysis, application management, project delivery, or related disciplines.
  • Strong hands-on Veeva/Vault CRM experience is required and is the primary technical qualification for this position, including solution design, configuration, integrations, testing, releases, enhancements, and production support.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a Veeva/Vault CRM technical and functional subject matter expert and translate complex commercial business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
  • Strong project management experience is required, with demonstrated success leading complex IT/application projects from initiation through implementation and post-implementation support.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project scope, schedules, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, vendors, deliverables, and stakeholder communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and drive decisions and accountability without direct reporting authority.
  • Experience with systems analysis, requirements development, solution design, system integrations, data flows, interfaces, and enterprise application technologies.
  • Experience developing system lifecycle documentation and coordinating functional, integration, validation, and user acceptance testing.
  • Knowledge of FDA-regulated environments including computerized system validation, 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, presentation, stakeholder management, and communication skills/

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive Veeva/Vault CRM implementation and application management experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry.
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale Veeva/Vault CRM implementations, migrations, releases, or major enhancement programs.
  • Experience working directly with Veeva and/or Veeva implementation partners.
  • PMP certification or equivalent formal project management training/certification.
  • Experience applying Agile, Waterfall, and/or hybrid project management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, including generative AI, and experience identifying potential AI-enabled business or technology use cases.
  • Understanding of responsible AI, including governance, data privacy, security, compliance, and risk considerations within regulated environments.

 

 

The base compensation range for this position is $120,300 to $222,600. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance. Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
