About the Department

The Strategy & Rare Disease (STARS) organization drives the long-term strategic direction of Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI)/North America Operations (NAO) and leads all US commercial efforts for Novo Nordisk’s Rare Disease portfolio. The mandate of STARS is to facilitate the development and to coordinate the execution of the long-term strategy, defining a sustainable business model in US beyond a 5-year time horizon. This department serves as the insiders of the US market when informing and help shaping upstream decisions around future investments and assets. The Rare Disease portfolio includes products in the hemophilia and growth disorders therapeutic areas, new products in the pipeline, and products acquired through business development efforts in existing and new areas. The STARS team collaborates and partners with groups across NAO, Research & Early Development, Development, innovation hubs across NN, other affiliates, and global. The Position

The Project Manager, North America Future Business Strategy drives and manages high impact activities and analyses across organizational functions and lines of business throughout Novo Nordisk, while also providing project management support on a variety of initiatives. Assignments may include activities / analyses related to strategy & capability development, operating effectiveness or organizational efficiency initiatives - aligned with Novo Nordisks strategy and priorities.



This position reports to the Vice President, North America Future Business Strategy. This person will be responsible for cross-functional alignment across the Future Business Strategy team, as well as strong collaboration and organizational effectiveness across both the US and Global Novo Nordisk organizations.


Essential Functions

  • Coordinates the development of the Future Business Strategy methodology and framework used in the development of the NAO (all North America) strategic direction of all therapy area, pipeline product, BD opportunities for North America
  • Supports the coordination of a NAO position and strategy for new therapy areas, pipeline products and BD opportunities across the Future Business Strategy Leads. Proactively collaborates with the FBS leads and NAO teams to identify development activities and timelines in order to define strategies and set future direction
  • Manages the development of the transition framework and KPIs of new therapy areas, pipeline products and BD opportunities from the Future Business Strategy team into the line of business in an organized and repeatable manner
  • Supports the successful transition of new therapy areas, pipeline products and BD opportunities to the line of business (less than three years from launch) including development and execution of the implementation of strategic business plans, and pre-launch and launch market development plan
  • Provides a support function to the Head of NAO Future Business Strategy team for departmental initiatives, strategic projects, and leadership alignment. Demonstrates strong leadership role across the organization, by engaging in close collaboration with key internal stakeholders (e.g. Sales, Medical, Legal, Marketing, etc)


Physical Requirements

0-10% overnight travel required.



  • A Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in relevant area (e.g. Business or Finance) highly preferred
  • At least 6 years overall, of relevant progressive business experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry
  • A minimum of 2 years of top-tier management consulting experience, with a track record of supporting complex cross-functional projects is preferred
  • Significant, proven project management and problem-solving experience, with demonstrated ability to develop practical solutions to unstructured problems with limited oversight
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, execute and follow-up in a timely manner, anticipating problems and roadblocks
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills for executive level communication and collaboration
  • Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, with ability to synthesize complex information into simplified, user-friendly, persuasive formats and presentations
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required
  • PMP certification preferred
