About the Department

The Rare Disease organization leads all US Commercial efforts for Novo Nordisk’s Rare Disease portfolio. The Rare Disease portfolio includes medical treatments, customer solutions, and devices across multiple Therapy Areas including Rare Bleeding Disorders, Rare Endocrine Disorders, Rare Renal Disorders, and Hemoglobinopathies (Sickle Cell Disease & Beta Thalassemia), as well as new products in the pipeline.

 

The Rare Disease organization is responsible for leading the enterprise approach to achieving our patient care goals and financial objectives, devising and delivering transformative patient and customer experiences, addressing unmet needs across the communities we serve, and setting the industry standard for extraordinary execution. The team members collaborate and partner cross functionally with multiple functions and groups throughout the US organization, Clinical Development, Research & Early Development, other affiliates, and the Global HQ teams.

The Position

The Senior Manager, Patient Marketing will play a pivotal role in supporting the development and execution of patient-focused marketing strategies and initiatives for Novo Nordisk’s Rare Endocrine portfolio. This role centers on understanding patient needs, leveraging actionable insights, and collaborating across functions to deliver impactful campaigns and educational programs for patients and caregivers through multiple channels. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in patient-centric marketing and a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes.

 

Relationships

Reports to the Rare Disease Marketing Lead. Partners closely with the marketing team, market access, commercial insights and analytics, omnichannel, agency partners, and other stakeholders to drive patient initiatives. Requires experience and collaboration with the Medical, Regulatory and Legal review process.

 

Essential Functions

  • Develops a deep understanding of disease states, market dynamics, patient and provider journeys, customer insights and the competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions
  • Leads the creation and execution of innovative strategic and tactical plans, grounded in customer insights, to differentiate the brands and drive performance for current and new indications
  • Generates and synthesizes actionable insights from field and market research to continuously refine patient marketing strategies and tactics
  • Establishes and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) for patient campaigns in partnership with the Omnichannel team, driving measurement and optimization
  • Builds and maintains trusting, collaborative relationships with others inside and outside of the organization, focused on addressing key business objectives, and processes
  • Oversees the management of the advertising agency and promotional review board (PRB) process to ensure effective implementation of patient marketing initiatives
  • Fosters strong partnerships with agency teams to support brand success, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Leads the brand planning process for patient marketing across the Rare Endocrine portfolio
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to gain and leverage deep insights into the patient journey, including caregiver perspectives

 

Physical Requirements

20-30% overnight travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelors degree required; MBA-preferred
  • A minimum of eight (8) years in Marketing, Brand Management, Sales and/or related experience within the Pharmaceutical industry is required.   Experience with patient support hubs and/or specialty pharmacies is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals
  • Extensive experience with the Medical, Legal, Regulatory review process with a deep understanding of compliance and legal requirements
  • Proven success with agency management and budgets
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Patient marketing experience required; rare disease experience preferred

 

The base compensation range for this position is $116,810 to $216,100. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance. 
 
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
