The Position
Analyzes and summarizes available data and creates / authors responses to unsolicited inquiries from healthcare professionals, institutions, and/or payors requesting medical information about Novo Nordisk products, Communicates with HCPs in response to unsolicited inquiries, Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent, accurate communication of medical and drug information and Leads cross-functional and/or global initiatives in response to identified business needs.
Relationships
Reports to a Director level employee in Medical Information and works with stakeholders throughout the CMR and Commercial organizations in NNI, as well as global GLIA and medical affairs. Key relationships include Medical & Scientific Affairs, Field Medical Affairs, Product Safety, Customer Care, Sales, and Marketing. Acts as a formal or informal mentor to others in Medical Information and/or Scientific Center of Excellence; may oversee PharmD Fellow(s) on a rotational basis. Acts as a primary contact with vendors and is an active member of professional societies/organizations. This individual has established contacts at other Novo Nordisk affiliates and/or industry Medical Information colleagues with whom information and resources are regularly shared.
Essential Functions
- Provides verbal, written, and on-demand video responses to medical and technical inquiries about Novo Nordisk products from HCPs, institutions, and/or payors
- Creates and/or revises standard and custom medical information responses for use in responding to existing and anticipated medical and technical inquiries from HCPs, institutions, and/or payors
- In preparation for a key launch or other large communication, works with key stakeholders to identify anticipated medical and technical inquiries from HCPs, institutions, and/or payors
- Assists field medical colleagues who receive unsolicited inquiries and request medical information support
- Leads development of and/or revises content in comprehensive evidence-based medical information (e.g., clinical overviews, formulary dossiers, online evidence repository)
- Product expert for internal colleagues looking for medical information on marketed products
- Performs quality assurance review of after-hours calls handled by vendor and serves as backup for complex after hours inquiries from healthcare professionals
- Ensures compliance with FDA requirements as they affect Medical Communications; responses must be accurate, up-to-date, balanced, and scientific
- Provides review for Promotional Review Board pieces containing relevant medical content
- Serves as subject matter expert for Medical Information processes and best practices
- Independently leads special collaborative projects with cross-functional key stakeholders outside of MI&A
- Leads preparations and manages activities in high intensity / high demand projects (e.g., product launch) with minimal guidance
- Provides related medical support, which may include but is not limited to: Creating/revising Customer Care Center scripts, internal product training, staffing medical booths at meetings/conventions, global alignment of medical information standards and best practices
Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required.
Qualifications
- Healthcare degree required; RN/NP/PharmD/PhD/MD preferred; 3+ years of relevant experience with an advanced healthcare degree required or 5+ years of relevant experience required with a bachelor’s degree in healthcare required (eg. clinical pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, etc); medical information experience prioritized
- Demonstrated track record of innovative solutions to meet business needs
- Advanced literature search/assessment skills
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of endocrinology (diabetes, growth hormone, etc.) or hematology preferred
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong presentation skills (knowledge of PowerPoint required)
The base compensation range for this position is $116,810 to $216,100. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
