The Position

The Senior Manager, Commercial Insights & Analytics, provides insights and analytics expertise, primarily through the analysis of complex data, to help guide Novo Nordisk on portfolio, franchise, and brand strategy development and execution.  This individual primary role will be in support of a new therapeutic area for Novo Nordisk (MASH, Metabolic-dysfunction associated steatohepatitis) though part of a team that provides analytical support to a portfolio of products across other therapeutic classes such as Diabetes and Obesity/Weight Management. The Sr Manager is responsible for providing holistic, insight-driven consultation and evidence-based strategic and tactical guidance to all levels of marketing.  In addition to Marketing, partners with other Commercial Insights & Analytics (CI&A) and broader Finance & Operations (F&O) functions to ensure proper alignment and impact on NNI business.

 

Relationships

Reports to a Director of Semaglutide Anaytics in CI&A and will act on behalf of this role in certain situations.  Has indirect management responsibility, in the form of coaching and mentoring, for developing members of the team responsible for data and analytics.  Also has frequent interaction with NN India team (Global Business Services, GBS) insights & analytics colleagues.  In addition to internal relationships mentioned above, external relationships include interactions with professional services, secondary data vendors and consultants. 

 

Essential Functions:

COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION:

  • Development and execution of content with clear storylines, grounded on holistic business concepts and communicates key conclusions and business recommendations/implications (what/so what and now what) to business partners and peers through formal and informal channels
  • Analytical thinker and creative problem solver, ability to influence others with verbal and written communication
  • Crafts clear narrative, uses it to develop own perspective and recommendations, even if others may disagree, and takes a stand and is able to effectively push back

DATA & PROCESS MANAGEMENT:

  • Contributes to hypothesis driven investigations into detailed channel dynamics, prescriber, patient and transactional data.
  • Maintains and develops (in close collaboration with internal IT) databases and analytic applications in environments such as Tableau, Excel, and/or other proprietary environments.
  • Leverages internal data systems and tools to efficiently maintain data and reporting processes to minimize manual data updates.
  • Supports and develops analyses for team and business partners and other business groups (e.g. identification of key performance indicators/leading indicators, ad-hoc customer segment-level reports and trend reports for internal teams).

MARKET RESEARCH PARTNERSHIP:

  • Contributes to qualitative and quantitative marketing research projects through collaborating with data trends (i.e. prescriber, patient, payer data) to inform targeting and recruitment

IN-DEPTH DATA ANALYTICS IN SUPPORT OF CUSTOMER INSIGHTS:

  • Conduct in-depth longitudinal patient analytics to understand business drivers and solve for tactical and strategic brand challenges/opportunities utilizing prescription, diagnostic, lab data assets
  • Supports development of distinct, actionable business recommendations and implications. Support insights and analytics team with the development and design of key lines of investigation via custom analysis and assessments utilizing relevant and appropriate data sources and business resource
  • Supports the development of recommendations via presentations with clear storylines to communicate key conclusions and actionable recommendations through formal and informal channels
  • Supports the refinement of timely, on-going analysis and reporting to concisely communicate relevant business issues
  • Works with Commercial Insights & Analytics and Marketing leaders in the development, maintenance and update of national-level business and market tracking analyses
  • Proactively streamlines and documents processes supporting the generation of business insights and tracking reports.

  • Ensure alignment of initiatives to company’s overall vision aligned to the business strategic focus areas and departments goals
  • Advocate and be a champion of our team, business partners and customers, demonstrate inherent interest in people, intense curiosity to decipher and understand data, human behavior and desire to drive insights into action
  • Works well under pressure, with initiative to take on unfamiliar tasks

 

 

Physical Requirements

10-20% overnight travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. Focus in Business, Math, Science, or Engineering preferred. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • At least eight (8) years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and qualitative analysis skills required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of national and subnational IQVIA datasets and/or other secondary industry sources highly preferred
  • Experience with/working knowledge of multiple business analysis software platforms (e.g. Tableau, Qlik, SAS, R, Python) strongly preferred
  • Experience in mathematical modeling for prediction, clustering and classification
  • Strong Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Access) skills.
  • Strong knowledge of/familiarity with IQVIA LAAD; prior experience with EMR data preferred
  • Creative problem solving; ability to organize/manipulate data and see big picture from scattered pieces of information
  • Strong writing, presentation, project management skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines
  • Positive and eagerness to learn, collaborate and partner with internal business colleagues
