The Position

Security Developer II will support the Global Security Operations mission with Global Information Security. They leverage their professionalism, technical knowledge, and positive attitude to solve complex technical challenges. The developer in this role must gather and track stakeholder requirements. They will use knowledge of architecture and development patterns for on premise systems and public cloud to design and deliver solutions to meet requirements.

 

The Security Developer II will have a primary emphasis on one area at a time, but example areas may include: Metrics and reporting through maintenance of data connections, data warehousing, and reporting within BI Platforms. Data analytics, detections, and automation through SIEM/SOAR content development and maintenance

 

These functions require building and maintaining interfaces between enterprise applications, infrastructure, and security systems such as ServiceNow, Qlik, PowerBI, AWS, Azure, Anomali, Splunk, Trellix, and Tenable products.

 

The Developer will record, track, and maintain their work items within a work management system such as Azure DevOps.

 

Relationships

Reports directly to the manager of Global Security Operations – Security Analytics and Automation.  Will support Global Security Operations strategic goals alongside peers in New Jersey, Denmark, and India.  These relationships include specialists, architects, operations teams, application management teams, and project managers.

 

This role will interface routinely with key stakeholders including GSO management, senior security operations personnel, as well as third party technology service providers.

 

Essential Functions

  • Analyzes and fulfills business needs:
    • Recognizes and responds to stakeholder needs and ensures commitments are delivered upon
    • Uses knowledge of the assigned business function to identify business needs and develop value-added solutions
    • Assists with identifying opportunities for enhancements and bug fixes
    • Estimates effort accurately ahead of projects
    • Uses all available vendor services and open sources to solve problems with code and applications
  • Develops and maintains systems, applications and infrastructure:
    • Leverages knowledge of patterns in systems architecture
    • Applies strong knowledge of programming and scripting with languages such as JavaScript, C#, and Python to automate routine tasks and enhance data collection
    • Applies query languages such as SQL, M, DAX, Splunk Query Language, etc. in support of development, tuning and enhancements
    • Scripting and development for security operations projects as needed
  • Leverages technology principles, knowledge and practices:
    • Applies product knowledge about major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Office 365, ServiceNow, Salesforce and other dominant public cloud infrastructure
    • Recognizes common technology stacks and patterns to quickly understand new systems
    • Applies knowledge of application development standards such as REST, GraphQL and XML to support API integrations with on premise and public cloud services
    • Uses source code control systems such as SVN and Git
    • Participates in research and evaluation of new security tools, techniques and technologies
    • Able to independently learn new technology leveraging documentation, vendor resources and communities and other means of self-learning
  • Provides technology support and service:
    • Applies knowledge of centralized logging and security event management best practices
    • Documents all developed code so it can be understood by others
    • Provides high quality service to stakeholders by listening to, identifying and addressing stakeholder needs
  • Understands and applies risk management practices:
    • Supports the implementation of security policies, procedures, and best practices

 

Physical Requirements

5% overnight travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Engineering or other relevant fields. Relevant experience may be substituted when appropriate
  • 4 years of relevant experience is required
  • Hands-on software development experience is required
  • Experience developing with JavaScript, Python, or C# is required
  • Experience with source code version control systems is required
  • Experience with API integrations is required
  • Experience with Qlik Sense, Power BI or SIEM/SOAR platforms is required
  • Experience with Azure or AWS is required
  • Experience with common platforms such as Office 365 and ServiceNow is desired
  • Experience recording and tracking work items in Azure DevOps desired
  • Experience administering and building complex queries is desired
  • Experience working in an enterprise scale IT operations environment desired
  • Experience working in a multinational organization attractive
  • The ability to effectively communicate in a verbal or written context essential
