The Position

The Peer-to-Peer Relations Strategist is accountable for leading the development and process implementation of HCP Relationship Management plans (specifically Promotional Speakers and Consultants) for all current and future brands. Develop HCP Relationship strategies across the diabetes portfolio to support the commercial objectives of the company. Assist with the development of policy and broker HCP relationships and contacts to further the Market Shaping and HCP Relations strategies. Partner with Medical Operations, Market Shaping, Diabetes and Bio Pharm Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Legal, Compliance and other cross-functional stakeholders to plan and manage individual HCP Relationship plans and contracts. Incumbent takes a lead role on HCP Management initiatives, as appropriate, and interacts extensively with other functions within and across Novo Nordisk. Provide key HCP Relationship strategy input into the brand, sales, and compliance planning processes.

 

Relationship

The Peer-to-Peer Relations Strategist reports directly into the Peer-to-Peer Engagement Lead within the broader Integrated Customer Engagement function. They will regularly interface with their direct report, the Peer-to-Peer Relations Specialist. This role will regularly collaborate with various parts of the enterprise, including Compliance, Regulatory, Omnichannel Engagement, Market Development, Therapeutic Areas/Brands, Experience Intelligence, CMR and Commercial Excellence and Innovation. External relationships include Speakers, advisory board members, investigators, other consultants, and key customer groups.

 

Essential Functions

  • Accountable for managing the HCP strategy functions for designated area, including but not limited to making sound decisions that optimize HCP relationships and enhance the relationship value for the HCP and Novo Nordisk
  • Acts as key contact in managing overall HCP relationships, including responsibility for centralization of all contracts and contract negotiations, as well as establishing speaker and HCP criteria and tracking expenses to financial caps set
  • Collaborates closely with medical affairs to develop and assess portfolio-wide HCP strategy (i.e. systematic identification, segmentation, relationship development/maintenance/tracking)
  • Develops and fosters strong relationships and communication strategies with field sales management related to the area of promotional speakers
  • Develops and implements HCP influence marketing strategies and tactics
  • Develops and implements HCP sunshine planning and management strategies
  • Develops strong relationships with leading key opinion leaders/thought leaders and maintains the network to integrate into marketing activities by collaborating with other Novo Nordisk teams
  • Drives aspects of speaker program nominations strategy, speaker bureau planning, speaker program compliance, and speaker training strategies
  • Fiscal:
    • Develops and monitors performance against budget Ensures budgets remain on track
    • Participates in the development of HCP spend analysis and communication strategy for sunshine reporting
    • Partners with compliance, field sales, and medical to address speaker program compliance needs and identifies and implements training programs as needed
  • Speaker & operations management:
    • Collaborate closely with Compliance and Legal to keep current with state and federal regulations affecting HCP payment and promotional education, establish new Market Shaping processes to meet pending Sunshine Act requirements, and establish appropriate compliance training and communications with consultants/speakers
    • Develops and presents compelling speaker engagement and relations plan for management endorsement, including determination of fair market value rates/caps, annual contracting and recruitment process, relationship management, training activities, and management metrics
    • Lead speaker training, speaker communication plans and tactics, regular engagements with national speakers, and as needed engagements with full speaker bureau
    • Works closely with field sales and medical to ensure optimal development and execution of speaker and consultant initiatives (nomination, training etc.) Processes requests with all HCP relationship management needs including US and international
    • Works effectively with internal stakeholders to lead the development and execution of speaker training
    • Works with legal and compliance to develop and manage HCP contracts and caps, according to policy

 

Physical Requirements

Hybrid Policy: 3 days in the office, 2 days remote.

Approximately 20-30% overnight travel.

Supervisory

Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.

 

Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.

 

Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in marketing or health related field. Advanced degree preferred
  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical related experience (internally or agency) and direct HCP interaction experience
  • Creative, innovative thinker with strong strategic mindset and understanding of market needs
  • Experience in budget management as well as attention to detail and ability to adequately forecast
  • Must exhibit strategic thought and leadership with the ability to think and lead at the big picture level as well as the ability to translate strategic objectives into specific initiatives and manage successful execution
  • Strong communications and relationship building capacity
  • Understands HCP landscape as it relates to US and Global Compliance preferred
  • Very strong tactical familiarity with key market-shaping activities such as Speaker and Consultant strategy and management
